The Most?

June 3, 2004: George Tenet resigned the position he held for seven years: CIA Director.

Tenet, standing in front of the Seal of the CIA, emotionally stated that this was, "The most difficult decision of my life."
What about the thousands of critical decisions made during his seven years as director of the CIA? Those decisions impacted and changed the United States' current and long-term security and US politics, world politics, world security, the lives of millions of civilians & military people everywhere -- AND the lives of CIA employees whom Tenet was charged with managing, keeping alive and providing operational support??????
The nation and CIA employees deserve strength, not emotion masking bad management.

Why did they disappear & passively accept liberation?
A Pentagon report identifies a "Special Operations and Antiterrorism Branch," known in Hussein's regime as M-14, that was established to continue the reign of terror and work to highjack Iraq following liberation.  M-14 was organized and planned for insurgency before the liberation of Baghdad in April, 2003.  The report states that M-14 is responsible for today's killings, roadside and car bombings, and some sophisticated guerrilla attacks such as those in Falluja.  M-14 organized "Tiger Groups" consisting of 15 to 20 volunteers trained in light weaponry and explosives whose objectives included bombings and suicide attacks.

The findings are based upon interrogations of high-ranking M-14 individuals now in American custody.

As US forces neared Baghdad just prior to liberation, M-14 initiated its "Challenge Project" directing Hussein's intelligence officers to scatter and lead guerilla insurgency activities.  They refused to resist liberation.  Instead, M-14 officers went to "key cities to assist local authorities in defending those cities and to carry out attacks."  M-14's plan was designed to operate with limited central control so that local cells could continue to attack liberating forces even if Hussein were to be captured or killed.

The report states that M-14 has been responsible for "hijackings, assassinations and explosives," and M-14 officers are responsible for "the majority of attacks" today.

Who's Fighting For The Iraqi People... And Civilization?
Halfway through the US Army's fiscal 2004, 28,406 soldiers have re-upped for another tour of duty.   This tops the six-month goal of 28,377. -- WorldTribune Report

US forces have determined that almost half of the more than 200,000 Iraqi so-called security officers refused to fight and defend Iraq during the Sunni and Shiite insurgent battles in the spring of 2004.  Major General Martin Dempsey, commander of the 1st Armored Division, said, "About 50 percent of the security forces that we've built over the past year stood tall and stood firm.  About 40 percent walked off the job because they were intimidated.  And about 10 percent actually worked against us." - AP report

In Basra, police arrested five Iraqis believed linked to al-Qaeda and suspected in this week's suicide bombings in Basra.  The men led police to a stash of 20 tons of explosives, a police intelligence chief said. - AP report

Hindsight Is So Well Illuminated That Even I Can See Clearly.
Perhaps with hindsight you and I can see there were some shortcomings.  Those in charge should have somehow put 2 and 2 together and seen that it added up to to 4.  Perhaps those in charge should have recognized signs that something was not right and reprioritized.  Perhaps those in charge should have recognized that certain suspicions should have been interpreted differently.
Think about a time that the people in charge included you...  perhaps a time your beloved family member was diagnosed with terminal cancer.  Do you recall how you and your friends and relatives searched back -- using hindsight -- and thought that perhaps that time your now-deceased relative felt ill for some days meant the cancer was becoming deadly?
Think about another time that people in charge included you...   the time you believed in that company whose stock you bought and watched go down.   Do you recall how you, your spouse, and friends watched that stock daily always hopeful and sometimes even praying for it to go up?  Did you have a plan to deal with it each day?
Do you or any rational person believe that President Bush, then in office for less than seven months, Secretary of defense Donald Rumsfeld, Secretary of State Colin Powell, National Security Adviser Condolezza Rice, or any other member of the cabinet would possibly know specifics about al Qeada, bin Laden, or any other terrorist plot that included causing the death, destruction and psychologically permanent damage to the United States of America and not done everything in their considerable powers to prevent it?
No.  No more than you would have permitted your dear relative to contract terminal cancer.  No.  No more than you would have bought that stock that did nothing but go down and cost you money.
All of us who know we are very smart can always see what would have been the better thing to have done... if only we had known before.

The Scent Of Blood
One result of the 9/11 attacks is the United States' imperative to aggressively defend itself.  The problem is that other nations not yet directly attacked and with other motivations complain that the enemy has made its point, poses little threat to uninvolved nations, and should be ignored.

Their expression of complacency is motivated by short-sighted deception and is being used to impede and directly interfere with the United States' ability to defend itself.  These nations are attempting to distract the world from their more important strategic reason to ensure that the US is weakened and vulnerable.  Their purpose is selfish.   It is designed to impede the US' defense thus providing time for Europe to develop into a more culturally cohesive economic powerhouse led by Germany.

The United States appears un-united when portrayed in the media's stories of political infighting.  Domestic self-serving groups use the pacifist's shield to divide the nation; they hope to affect changes in political leadership they perceive may be more supportive of their special interests.

Domestic divisive factions and international forces out for themselves may think they have picked up a scent of US blood.  They fail to understand that the US will unite to survive.  If the United States fails to prevail in the War Against Terrorism, all domestic and international groups will be dragged below anything their short-sighted thinking might imagine.

Pointing Rubber Fingers
Many Iraqi factions are whining that the US-led coalition is failing to help them.  Iraqi factions that are old enemies are allying to attack and blame the US-led coalition for their own inability to work together and cooperate across their ancient factional boundaries.

Do the Iraqis recall that one year ago the US-led coalition liberated Iraq, removed Hussein and his sons from power, and opened every opportunity for all Iraqis to be all that they can be?

We're The Bad Guys
The primarily Islamic northern Nigerian state of Kano declared that it will boycott emergency polio immunization programs established by the United States.  The purpose of the immunization campaign is to blunt the outbreak of polio spreading across central and west Africa.

Kano is not alone in this policy.  Two other predominately Islamic Nigerian states have also banned the use of polio vaccine for several months.  Local Islamic leadership claims that the vaccination programs are part of a US plot to kill Muslim Nigerians, using agents that cause sterility and spread the AIDS virus.

Just Dead Iraqis Under Saddam... But Politicized Ideological Pawns Today
For over 30 years Saddam kidnapped, tortured, raped, and murdered tens of thousands of Iraqis.   Those deaths rarely made headlines around the world and most often the media did not consider them newsworthy.

Today's self-serving, agenda-filled media writes a headline for each Iraqi killed by Iraqi insurgents.  An impartial observer could get the impression that the media doesn't appreciate liberation won in Iraq, wants to inhibit Iraq's development, and aid insurgency by demoralizing their viewers and readers.  The media are free to write their demoralizing headlines and avail themselves of freedoms and liberties the United States fought to provide for Iraq.  Why is every dead Iraqi a media star and headline today?

The End Justifies Distortion & Lying?

For years Ahmed Chalabi's London-based exile group, the Iraqi National Congress, provided what has now been demonstrated to be wildly exaggerated and even false intelligence regarding Iraq's weapons of mass destruction.

Many American officials blame the once-trusted Mr. Chalabi for intentionally misleading US policy when he and his group provided what little, hard-won intelligence about Iraq had been available.  He was the most effective anti-Saddam lobbyist in Washington.

In an interview in Baghdad Mr. Chalabi recently said, "We are heroes in error. As far as we're concerned, we've been entirely successful. Our objective has been achieved. That tyrant Saddam is gone, and the Americans are in Baghdad. What was said before is not important."

State Department officials said, "But what Chalabi told us, we accepted in good faith.  Now there are going to be a lot of question marks over his motives."  Mr. Chalabi is an influential member of the Iraqi Governing Council, but he is apparently failing to garner a popular following in Iraq.

Winning The Trillion Dollar War

The trillion dollar global economic war is now being waged effectively by the US. The dollar is falling relative to the euro, yen and other major currencies. Due to these currency relationships, US goods and services are reaching new low prices and high relative values.  Every day large numbers of international business deals are being consummated. These deals involve massive purchases of US goods and services by non-US companies at record low prices. Filling these orders will create jobs and keep US factories and offices busy over the next years. The US economy is going to boom in 2004.

Meanwhile, more civilized nations -- the US' traditional allies -- will join the economic war's winner in the billion dollar War Against Terrorism. This war also will be won.

Liberate, Sacrifice, Reward The French-German-Led Opposition?
The US liberated Iraq and set Saddam Hussein and his regime on the run with political support and military assistance from several nations.  The military stabilization continues, but it is time to make up for deterioration and negligence of the 34 year long Hussein regime -- it is time to build Iraq.  The US announced that only companies from the US-led coalition will be eligible to receive contracts to build Iraq's infrastructure, industry and cities.

The US-led coalition liberated Iraq, stopped Hussein's support of terrorism, and prevented Hussein from continuing to build Iraq into a destructive war machine.  The French and Germans who led opposition to Iraq's liberation are today safer thanks to US fortitude and coalition soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Neither France nor Germany intend to forgive the tens of billions of dollars Iraq owes them for work contracted with Hussein.  France and Germany are not entitled to any more benefits of the US-led victory.

The Age of Asymmetric Policy Arrived March 17, 2003

The Foundation Of Asymmetric Policy Is Self-Defense.
Yesterday's friend may not be today's ally. We must judge our friends based upon past performances, today's actions and tomorrow's expectations.

Certain Uncertainties Exist

The uncertainties of war make all else in life appear as solid as the Rock of Gibraltar.  Uncertainties do not exist in predicting which force will win the War Against Terrorism or most battles on any specific terrorism front.  Uncertainties do exist in how long it will take and what the cost in valuable human life will be to accomplish all that will be accomplished.

Done
Full investigations and all necessary and appropriate reprimands, duty reassignments and courts martial procedures have been in process since the first accusations of Iraqi prisoner abuse were raised up the chain of command in mid-January, 2004.

Appropriate legal and procedural actions continue in process.  Actions to stop and eliminate future abuses have been rapid and decisive.  They have been conducted by US military and political leadership.  These facts are clear from the latest congressional testimony and media coverage. It is now clear that the problem stems from actions of a relatively few rogue individuals in the US military and assigned by contractors.  All civilized people should be impressed by the open and efficient US handling of this situation.  The openness of the US system is again demonstrated to be a superstar.

Only brutal terrorists and short-sighted partisans would work to overlay this situation upon the US military, US philosophy, or defensive tactics being used to wage the War Against Terrorism.  The US system works.  Abuse by individuals will always exist, but the US system minimizes damage and corrects.

Point Of Order
There are two forums of law relevant to the War Against Terrorism:  Civilian and Military. The applications, standards, and rules of evidence are different in each forum.

In a time of war, when handling military crimes, personnel and issues, we must defer to the military forum for resolution.

It is during times of war that many of our institutions, including legal institutions, are tested.  It is incumbent upon us in this time of war to entrust and defer legal matters to the appropriate forum -- and by doing so we will test our institutions and ourselves.  If we survive this war and, if in that victory we realize that it was won by holding fast to our laws and institutions as well as invoking our military might, we will be stronger, more secure and better able to handle future crises.

We must exercise wisdom by standing back and entrusting our military legal forum to answer questions and handle situations regarding the so-called "enemy combatants" who are being detained at Guantanamo Bay and elsewhere.  All that should matter to us in the near-term is:  1.)  We are safer and protected from the harm the detainees intended for us; and, 2.)  Our centuries-old, tested legal institutions are working to ensure that detainees receive fairer treatment than they would provide for us.

Our interfering in military, legal and political issues involved in these cases will only bog down our institutions, possibly set inappropriate precedents, and quite probably unleash additional dangers upon us.

If Trillions Of Dollars & Decades Of Time For Germany, How Much And How Long For Iraq?
Since 1990, $1.25 trillion have been invested in the region known as East Germany prior to 1989.   This investment has been used to rebuild infrastructure, factories, schools, housing, and to promote business activities and create jobs.  Yet today the region remains considerably under-developed relative to the old West Germany --- unemployment remains high and the standard of living is below that of the rest of Germany.  There remains a inestimable need for more financial investment and time in order to bring the region up to par with today's industrialized, long-term capitalistic Germany.

It has taken tremendous financial investment and time to develop the eastern region of Germany even though it is populated with Germans, speaking the same language, having European backgrounds, and not carrying guns and RPGs in the streets.  Much more is required and yet Germany is not plagued with terrorist, insurgent, criminal, ethnic and religious factions.  The German people are rooted in western civilization morals, ethic, and cultural ideals.

The amount of financial investment and time needed to bring Iraq out of its condition is inestimable.

Paradigm, Smaradigm
Intellectuals, political scientists, international lawyers and historians debate what is the appropriate label for the paradigm most accurately describing tomorrow's world?  The implication is that with the appropriate label and identification of interactions between elements, the new paradigm can be used to manage world affairs.  Some hope it will be used to manage tomorrow as well as the old paradigm enabled yesterday's management to do so well that we are here today.  The new paradigm should serve as a basis for military, political, diplomatic, and foreign policy planning.

Around the conference tables and behind some very, very messy desks piled high with colleagues' writings sit the minds working to answer the question:  What shall we name it, what is it composed of, and how do its elements interact?  They use terms such as internationalism, multi-internationalism, multi-lateralism, etc. as needed for luncheon engagements and book publishers.

The War Against Terrorism has pushed all of those conference tables and messy desks onto Luncheon Stage One.  Complacent, over-intellectualizing allowed us to underestimate how easily terrorism attained the power to distract, pervasively influence, drain resources, and influence everything.  Terrorism implemented by today's technology-empowered fanatics forces us to formally identify a new model by subordinating our concepts regarding what a state is, what its objectives are, who its leaders are.

The paradigm for today requires that we observe and analyze inside-out and upside-down factoring in realism.  The analysis methodology for today is Asymmetric Realism:  the rearrangement of all elements involved in organizing nations internally, international relationships, defense, economics, and cultures wherein all new combinations and transient alliances are understood to be possible and nothing is solid but history.  Effective implementation of this methodology requires pragmatic, bold policies conceived and directed by respected leadership able to express long-term objectives.  Excessive talk of paradigms and methodologies without strong leadership that is up to the big projects will lead to failure and losses.

Win-Win Germany & The Peace Conference In Munich?
German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer recently defended his nation's decision not to join the US-coalition in early 2003, stating, "It was a political decision not to join the coalition because we were not and we are still not convinced of the validity of the reasons for war."

Germany took the zero-cost option knowing it would be economically and militarily shielded by the US-led coalition's work of ridding the world of Saddam's regime.  Germany provided weapons technology and munitions to Saddam's regime.  Now it expects to return to the US-led, liberated Iraq to do more business.  The war has liberated Iraq and proceeded generally as well as a war might:  Soldiers and civilians died but progress was made and peace was purchased.

Germany intends to rule the world.  Germany's plans have not changed since Kaiser Wilhelm.  Can it be successful over the long haul without taking the difficult side of issues for freedom and against despotic terrorism?

Iraqi officers claim Iraqi WMD were transferred to Syria; CIA is split on issue
U.S. intelligence has uncovered evidence that Syria received Iraqi missiles and WMD in late 2002 and early 2003.  Evidence includes satellite photographs of Iraqi convoys believed to be bringing missiles and WMD into Syria.  There have been assertions by Iraqi officials that Saddam ordered such a transfer.

In the run up to the 1960 presidential election, candidate John F. Kennedy accused President Dwight Eisenhower of being weak on military issues and allowing the US to fall behind Russia.  Kennedy invented the term "missile gap" and used it to campaign against Eisenhower's vice president, Richard Nixon, who was Kennedy's opponent.

It was later proven that there never was a missile gap.  However the ploy worked and helped get Kennedy elected.  The Eisenhower administration was caught in a classic Catch-22:  It could not disprove the allegation because it would have had to use classified information to do so.

Today it is quite plausible that the US has evidence of Iraqi WMDs that it cannot disclose for security reasons.

...And you, what are you doing these days?

On January 3, 2003, the United States successfully landed a 400 pound machine on Mars. This machine was launched into space, traveled millions of miles to Mars, was ejected from its transport ship, entered Mars' atmosphere, withstood the destructive heat of entry, opened its parachute, made a soft landing, emerged from its protective landing cocoon, opened its solar panel wings, deployed its landscape camera, and started working to complete its mission to identify any signs of life having ever existed on Mars, all the while sending status reports to Earth.

Meanwhile, back on Earth, billions of people go about their daily routines. The French are busy making good cheeses and wines, the Germans are busy making fine automobiles and working to take over Europe with their new temporary friends, the French. The Germans understand that the real WWIII is economic and is being waged with economies, currencies, banking systems, and financed by international sales of German-made products.

Meanwhile, in the middle east, the religious zealots are working tirelessly to use old fashioned, simple technologies to kill, maim, destroy and ensure that no progress can be made by their fellow peace-loving countrymen. The zealots cultivate poppies and produce drugs for sale to the weak-charactered individuals of many civilized nations.

Meanwhile, the United States is accomplishing, producing and building for its people and standing up to the zealots and despots of the world. After all, someone must keep the French and Germans safe and secure so they can go about their daily lives.

Not Well?  Think Again!
Who says the War Against Terrorism is not going well?  Has there ever been a war that went well?

In war soldiers are killed by enemy fire as well as friendly fire, innocent civilians die, lives are destroyed, politicians distort for personal and political gains, media stars who know little, analyze even less and receive too much credibility rise high.  Right and wrong are seemingly at odds where both exist on several blurred fronts but get mistakenly labeled from distorted perspectives.

No war ever goes well until it is ended.  What is going well in today's War Against Terrorism is that civilization is confident it will survive and turn its resources away from fighting despicable bullies to aiming its resources toward productive goals.

Not Everyone's Econ 101
James Wolfensohn, President of the World Bank, claims that at least two-thirds of Iraq's estimated $120 billion foreign debt will need to be written off to rebuild the country properly.

We know Iraq could contract with some US and EU companies to drill into Iraq's sand -- which covers the world's second largest oil reserve -- pump the gushing oil, refine and ship it to nations around the world.  Those nations would pay Iraq for the oil.  Iraq would then have money to pay its debts and buy widgets.

Why don't World Bank bankers understand economics well enough to apply Adam Smith's accepted capitalistic supply/demand/quantity/price relationship metrics?

The War Against Terrorism's Multiple Battle Fronts

The liberation of Iraq was not Gulf War II. Today's War Against Terrorism is a global war involving every civilized person in all nations. There are many fronts in the War Against Terrorism. Today's most visible front is Iraq. This will change.

In Leg Irons --- Now
As soldiers sacrifice and die, politicians politic, nations rail over just cause while plotting their own economic windfalls, the UN demonstrates its unending impotence, and as statesmanship lies rotting, a few coalition soldiers destroyed much that was being accomplished.  US, British and possibly other nation's soldiers who were responsible for the care and security of Iraqi prisoners have performed some of the same despicable acts as the Nazis.  Some few soldiers charged with guarding Iraqi prisoners acted with full consciousness and performed vicious, depraved acts upon their prisoners.  They demonstrated a sadism true Hussein's sons and henchmen.  They, as did the Nazis and Hussein's henchmen, posed for their own photographic records.  Now the entire world is viewing their insidious acts.  There is no question of quilt.  There is no excuse.  There was only uncivilized behavior.

Contrary to the grand plan, civilization's future momentarily rests not upon the major successes of the US-led coalition's mission, but upon the despicable acts of a few low-level soldiers and out-of-control officers.

These soldiers have earned the right to be treated just as they treated those whom they were to care for.  Through their actions they surrendered the right to be part of civilization, the US-led coalition, and the liberating forces.

There must be quick and decisive action from the US-led coalition's military and political leadership.  The soldiers' own photographic records verify their despicable acts and proclaim their de facto guilt.  Swift justice is essential.  The US-led coalition now has an opportunity to demonstrate the same intolerance of its own sadistic brutality as it condemns in Hussein and other terrorists.

War Is For Experts
There were no well-wishers at the airport greeting three freed Japanese hostages. Instead, the aid workers and a photojournalist hung their heads in shame.  The three have been accused of recklessly ignoring government advisories and warnings to stay out of Iraq. They have been accused of endangering the Japanese military's mission providing humanitarian aid.

The Japanese government plans to bill the trio $6,000 for transportation and related expenses.

War is for experts -- not for do-gooders and interfering amateurs who get in the way of deadly military operations while distracting resources and blurring issues.

And the other news is...
Today, following the US-led coalition's liberation, Iraq is producing more oil, providing more electricity and fresh water for its people, has increased healthcare spending 30-fold, and has more new and rebuilt schools providing learning for more students than before liberation.

As The World Burns
Terrorism transcends nations, their boundaries, ambitions and leaders.  Terrorism ignores boundaries, forces changed ambitions, and kills or makes impotent leaders.
Today's terrorism is organized.  It is loosely and fluidly structured as a living organism.  It repairs itself like a planarian worm.  If it loses a part it grows it back; it may even grow multiple parts to replace the one part lost.  Its structure contains a leadership of individuals, all of whom may be replaced with no loss of potency to the organization.  Its primary subordinate layers of control and planning are geographically dispersed and communicate using everyday tools of today and past centuries: cell phones, the Internet, and human messengers.  The lower levels of today's terrorist organization are geographically dispersed and effectively cover the globe.
Instead of yesterday's simple one nation against one other nation or alliance of nations, today's terrorist organization consists of thousands of individuals holding allegiance to one cause and sharing methodologies, tactics and strategy.  It is composed of individuals fluidly joined into groups willing to unite ad hoc to defeat their perceived common enemy:  civilization.  Terrorist cells do not need frequent coordination nor much control.  Terrorism's army has been built and trained over centuries with cultural and religious zeal and lore;  it has been indoctrinated over recent decades using closed, concentrated teaching environments focusing upon a simple objective:  western civilization is the enemy, to destroy the enemy is good, to die while destroying the enemy results in each martyr's eternal salvation.
Geographic separation does not deter effective accomplishment of global terrorism's goal to kill and destroy all non-believers.  Terrorists' national and local goals are similar enough that both can be resolved by terrorism's standard methods:  suicide and remote bombings placed and timed strategically.
Simplistic analysis said that, since the fall of the Berlin Wall, NATO is an organization with no purpose.  NATO's recent inclusion of several former USSR-block countries is another step in the redefining of NATO.  NATO is no longer a valid acronym.  Today NATO should be recognized as a new word.  The meaning of this new word is, "A geographically dispersed alliance of nations sharing compatible goals and wherein each member shares a common enemy."  Today Nato is an organization of nations sharing the compatible goals of being civilized and productive.  It shares the common enemy known as terrorism.

Oozing Blood Must Be Stopped
Recently Fallujah was the scene where Iraqis displayed their stuff.  It was in this Saddam-loyalist and foreign-insurgent home base that a US vehicle was blown up.   After the initial attack Iraqis and insurgents set the vehicle on fire, killed the passengers, dragged their bodies from the vehicle, mutilated, and hung body parts from a nearby bridge.  Men and boys participated in the most gruesome aspects of this event by kicking, jumping on the dead bodies and shouting about killing more Americans.

These Iraqis represent a minority of Iraqis.  We must assume that after some years most Iraqis will realize that living free is actually better than living under a dictator even though it means accepting responsibility for your own life.   The problem is that unless the Hussein holdouts and foreign insurgents are killed or somehow converted into civilized beings, the rest of Iraq may never have the opportunity to truly live free.

The coalition must use this opportunity to make the stand that will decisively show all Iraqis and the world that freedom and civilized behavior will win over despotism in Iraq.  The US-led coalition must, 1.) Analyze the situation in Fallujah, 2.) Identify elements causing destruction, inhibiting liberation and impeding progress toward handover, 3.) Develop a plan to wipe out all remaining elements with any potential to carry on the hit and run attacks; 4.) Prepare a US-led force specifically for this mission, and 5.) Carry out the cleansing mission quickly and totally with deadly purposefulness.

The whole world is watching for a decisive reaction to this display of barbarism that is not acceptable any longer anywhere in the world.

US Diplomatic Policy Backed By Military Might Is Swaying Nations Toward Peace
February, 2004:  Libya confirmed it was responsible for blowing up Pan Am flight 103 in 1988 and killing 270 people.  The admission reverses the words of its prime minister.  The Libyan news agency said, "Recent statements contradicting or casting doubt on these positions are inaccurate and regrettable."  This was a reference to the prime minister's position in a recent letter to the UN declaring Libya did not acknowledge responsibility.

Libya's statement appeared on its Internet site and noted that Libya had assisted in bringing two suspects to justice and "accepts full responsibility for the actions of its officials."

Libya's statement could put the reforming nation on track toward allowing the Bush administration to lift sanctions restricting Americans' travel.

After 30 Years Of Direct Assault Terrorism
For over 30 years middle east terrorists have perpetrated their primitive psychology upon Western civilization.  The start was marked by airline hijackings and followed by kidnappings of journalists, missionaries and various sorts of operatives.  The 1993 bombing of New York's World trade Center marked the beginning of the current phase of terrorism.  Most people were finally awakened to understanding on 9/11/2001.  The current phase is all out war with the intent of destroying western civilization's accomplishments and methods.

Civilization is working to defeat terrorism by defeating terrorists.  Our approach is to suppress and disrupt thousands of fanatics from their religiously-based terrorist psychology by offering opportunities to work or killing them.  Their religiously-based terrorist psychology provides the rationale to use their ultimate weapon of serial mass destruction:   suicide bombings... using airplanes, small cars, chemicals, biology or nuclear tools.

Why would we believe that people raised under unwavering dogmatic control by an all pervasive religion that teaches, lectures and instructs multiple times each day that this life is not meaningful compared to the after-life; that ensures physically strong males should dominate and control physically weaker females; that their ultimate purpose is to serve the promulgation of their religion?  What might you believe had you been raised from birth and indoctrinated several times each day in religious and secular contexts?

Why would western civilization believe that these people would want to -- or be able to -- push aside life-long religious indoctrination to live their business and consumer lives under capitalism, their social lives in equality, their political lives democratically?  And, most importantly, why would they want to suddenly change centuries of tradition just to live locally, regionally and globally in peace and compete economically according to laws, procedures and contracts?  Why would these people want to change en mass?  What could possibly motivate them to change when their only leadership consists of religious dogma preaching no change and an ultra rich, self-serving royalty that continues to believe itself immune to the eventual onslaught of its own masses?

Growth From Destruction
The recession that followed the stock market collapse of March, 2000, could have evolved into a deep economic slow down.  The recession was averted by quick responses in the US.  Specifically:
1.)  Tax reductions. Businesses and individuals have more money to spend, invest and save;
2.)  Interest rate reductions. Having learned from the crash of 1929 and its decade-long depression, the US Federal Reserve acted quickly with resolve;
3.)  Elimination of superfluous workers and their positions resulted in workplace efficiency improvements enhanced by technology;
4.)  Military spending increases. This includes commercial airline usage for troop transport (over $1.2 billion paid to commercial airlines), build up of military equipment, payment of military salaries, and building of factories, materiel, and munitions stock piles;

5.)  Increased government deficits. War-time government defense and security spending produces deficits which throughout history are eliminated after the war is won.  Until surpluses are again generated, interest payments to bond holders fuel economic activity;
6.)  Consumer spending. Due to inherent American optimism, consumer products and housing continue active.

The War Against Terrorism -- WWIII -- is producing unintended consequences along with death and destruction.  One set of unintended consequences is increased economic activity.  As a result, the US economy will boom in 2004 providing job growth.  However any complacency is misplaced.  A successfully executed terrorist attack on US soil could have severe negative economic and cultural ramifications.

War The Old Fashioned Way

Beijing is warning that a Taiwan referendum on sovereignty could lead to war.  Chinese military officers interviewed on the official New China News Agency are stating that Taiwan's leadership has pushed it toward the "abyss of war" using its drive for independence.  The military officers, who speak only with direct clearance from the highest echelon, are making it clear that China considers a popular vote on Taiwan's political status cause for war.

These military officers stated that China would prevent Taiwan from formally declaring independence even if it meant pushing the mainland economy into recession or destroying plans to host the 2008 Olympics.  Luo Yuan, a senior colonel with the Chinese Academy of Military Sciences said, "Taiwan's president, Chen Shui-Bian, has reached the mainland's bottom line on the Taiwan question.  If they refuse to come to their senses and continue to use referenda as an excuse to seek Taiwan independence, they will push Taiwan compatriots into the abyss of war."  Major General Peng Guangqian was quoted as saying that the mainland would attack without hesitation if Taiwan pursued a formal split. "Taiwan independence means war," Mr. Peng said. "This is the word of 1.3 billion people, and we will keep our word."  General Peng listed the Olympics, loss of foreign investment, deterioration in foreign relations, economic slowdown or recession and "necessary" casualties by the army as costs China would willingly bear to reunify the mainland. He belittled the idea China would not dare to use military force against Taiwan before the 2008 Olympics after having campaigned for years to be host.

2004 promises to be exciting, and possibly challenging, on several fronts.  Terrorism may be forced to take a back seat.

More Distraction &  Wasted Resources
The US Whines On Via 9/11 Commission Hearings
The uninspired drones of death who have nothing more productive to do than to wage war through terrorism against the more successful western civilization continue to distract.  How much more does civilization need to receive from them before awakening and uniting to wipe them out in order to again focus resources toward progress?

How long and how much energy will civilization expend whining and re-re-examining 9/11's beforehand and aftermath?  9/11 happened. Mistakes were made -- OBVIOUSLY mistakes were made -- during the 1990s.  Politicians and those responsible for intelligence gathering and interpretation were distracted and felt omnipotent.  They ignored and refused to learn from the first World Trade Center bombing in 1993, the several embassy bombings, warnings from middle east nations, and the USS Cole event.  They failed to work up a sweat investigating, researching, analyzing and standing up to shout about how something was rotten.  We failed to preempt and prevent 9/11.

We are now unmistakably and involuntarily involved in World War III, the War Against Terrorism.  We can no longer run from the center of the schoolyard into the schoolhouse alerting the teacher to impending dangers while identifying a few bullies.  The schoolyard is being taken over, it is relatively too small, the schoolhouse is in shambles, and there are far too many bullies.  We must defend ourselves with vigor.  We must join willing allies.  We must allow the unseeing and afraid to go on about their temporarily uninvolved lives.

The United States continues to act un-united in its reaction to 9/11.  Survivors of victims demand financial rewards for having survived by not being in the buildings.  The US is ripping itself apart while rewarding the unworthy, wasting resources, and distracting those courageous individuals who understand the scope of today's War Against Terrorism.  The causes and deficiencies associated with 9/11 and the fanatical terrorists' motivations are far too complex, intertwined and ancient to fully understand.  In fact, the causes are worth analysis and endeavoring to understand, but in a non-partisan academic environment for application to intelligence gathering methodology and defense strategy.  Terrorism was born with the first human.  It is the manifest result of ignorant, unbridled envy and jealousy.  It will mutate.  It will always exist.  Today's terrorism blossomed in the 1970s when the primitive terrorists discovered the ease of implementing western civilization's technologies to kill its people.

Our job is to deal with it today in order to survive.  Civilization has two choices:  It might stop today's incarnation of terrorism by providing terrorists with something else to do.  This is not likely since they prefer killing and destruction over honest productive work and progress.  Civilization's other option is to temporarily lower itself to the terrorists' level and kill them.

9/11 Hearings have placed several partisans on stage.  Some have promoted personal and political agendas.  Hearings further demonstrated that there are very few wise patriots who understand that exposure of the daily workings of political Washington during the 1990s democratic administration and the first seven months of the new administration should not be displayed in open hearings.  The world's news media selectively reports -- with distortion -- sound bites of these hearings to the world.

After the political agendas have succeeded in ripping apart and weakening the US, where do the seditious rippers plan to go to live in safety?

Defend It Or Lose It
March 14, 2004:  Days after Spain's worst terrorist attack, its free people voted contrary to what the polls predicted just days before and rejected the party that led Spain in the War Against Terrorism.  The Spanish people voted to shift from the conservative party to the socialist party, not by a majority, but enough to make a statement.

The emotionally-provoked statement made by the Spanish people is that terrorism works.  Terrorists can change governments.  Terrorism can overthrow leaders.  The minute terrorists brought their war home to Spain, the Spanish people caved in.

The Spanish people have said they do not want to go to war, but what schoolyard bully ever relented when the little kids asked him to please stop?   The Spanish people have demonstrated to western civilization and to the terrorists that they will allow themselves the short-sighted relief of defeat by surrender.

The War Against Terrorism will continue.  It will be waged by those with courage to stand up for freedom and liberty.  It will be won by civilized forces.  Fortunately for the Spanish -- and other nations -- the United States will continue to lead the way and keep the world safe for all people who want to be free, even if they don't understand that freedom is not free.  From time to time freedom and liberty must be defended or they will be taken away.

Afterward Beforehand:  It was the Spaniards -- the Conquistadors -- who raided, plundered, killed, enslaved and impregnated the many Indian tribes of Central and South America from the early 1500s into the early 1800s.  These fighting Spanish conquerors stole and shipped the Indians' gold and other valuables to mother Spain while thousands of them stayed on to conquer -- that is, use, abuse and mingle with millions of Indians over some 300 years creating the mixed races now prevalent in those regions.

Yet today the Spanish people chose to not follow the life of their Conquistador ancestors.  They apparently prefer to appease today's fanatical enemy whose avowed plan is to kill them.  Today's homebound Conquistadors sacrificed their growing capitalistic economy for a socialist twist simply to avoid confrontation with an enemy that will eventually come back to settle old scores from the 12th century and after.  We wonder what corner of Spain all those appeasers plan to crowd into when their enemy rejoins them.

History does repeat: Under the leadership of Ferdinand and Isabella, which began in 1483, Spain managed to explore, and kill, conquer and steal from the natives of central and south America.  In 1588 Queen Elizabeth of England's strong leadership coupled with Sir Francis Drake's skilled command of the British navy defeated Spain.  Spain then returned to multi-century slow growth. Under the leadership of Aznar, which began in 1996, Spain's economy had started to blossom, yet in 2004, the Spainish electorate chose to reverse that gain by turning towards socialism just to run from military conflict.

Within a month of the Madrid bombings that apparently changed election results, terrorists attempted another train bombing.  The bombing was prevented.  But the terrorists were successful in terrorizing the Spanish people again.  Civilized people everywhere should understand that there is no way to successfully walk or run from today's terrorists.  Today's terrorists must be defeated on their own turf before they continue their work.

The French & Germans Knew?
Iraq's governing council has debated, fine tuned, squabbled, argued, procrastinated, reviewed, wasted time, and perhaps even analyzed the phrasing, wording, meanings, nuances, and ramifications of the interim constitution for months.  The multifarious, diverse, fractious, power-hungry, vengeful, angry, nefarious ethnic, social, cultural and religious groups that make up Iraq apparently cannot pause, cooperate, align, compromise, or coagulate long enough to permit the Iraqi people to begin to live under something resembling democracy.

Apparently democratic principles, freedoms and liberty are not appreciated by the members of the Iraqi governing council.  On March 5, they failed to ratify the celebratory signing of Iraq's interim constitution.  Minutes before the ceremony, several members reneged on their preliminary commitment to sign the document.  The signing ceremony was poised to be a showcase of success for Iraq and the US-led coalition.  It included symbols of Iraqi unity including a map of the nation emblazoned with the slogan "We all participate in the new Iraq," and a different fountain pen for each member was carefully placed on an antique desk that had belonged to King Feisal I, Iraq's first monarch.  Children wearing traditional costumes of many Iraqi ethnic groups were brought to the ceremony and, while the audience was waiting, the children went on stage singing a repertoire of patriotic songs.

Apparently not all human beings want to live in freedom, justice and pursue happiness in the traditional western style.  Apparently people are different.  Apparently people who live for centuries under different cultures and religions develop differently.  This has resulted in some people who want to follow strong leaders regardless of how brutal, despotic and cruelly they are treated;  these people may not understand or just not want to be free.  By reneging in the signing ceremony with full knowledge of the global embarrassment to the US-led coalition, Iraqis again demonstrate -- in an extremely visible and insulting way -- that Iraqi morals, ethics and operating standards differ greatly from those of the English speaking nations and their coalition partners.  There is nothing intrinsically wrong with that.  What is wrong is that the English speaking nations and their coalition partners must understand this fact and operate accordingly in Iraq.

Over centuries people from different regions of the world who live in self-contained cultures, follow various religions, and with no outside genetic inputs tend to have traits and characteristics come to dominate.  Whether culturally, socially, religiously or genetically based, or when based upon a combination of these and other complex commingled forces, the result is that people of various regions may be different from people of other regions.

The French and Germans have been doing business in Iraq for decades and, even though that business was done with the Hussein regime, any contract signed at the highest levels would necessarily be implemented at lower levels with large numbers of Iraqis participating.  By doing business in Iraq for decades the French and Germans learned how to succeed in dealing with Iraqis.  The French and Germans obviously understood that ethical and cultural differences existed and handled Iraqis in a manner that made Iraqis comfortable enough to invite them back for more business.  The French and Germans understood Iraqi ethical, moral, and operating standards, accommodated them and thus worked successfully for decades in Iraq.

The US-led coalition must contain its natural instincts of truth, justice and integrity and adapt its operating standards in order to become effective in Iraq.

If we are swayed by a later signing into believing that they should then be trusted, that their delay was a sign of growing pains, that the delay was a one-time problem and not a pattern, then we will deserve the inevitable deceits and betrayals we are certain to receive.

Within three weeks of signing the interim constitution, the leading Shiite cleric -- the one who resisted at the last minute before the signing -- announced that he will not go along with some key elements.

The New Fence
Recently, in a small town in the United States of America, a home owner decided to have a fence build around her property.  Using the Internet she looked up fence builders, went to their office, and arranged for a salesman to visit her home to prepare a cost and time estimate.  Within a day a salesman appeared at her property and wrote an estimate.  The lady signed the contract and put down a deposit.  Within ten days the contractor sent installers with wood, nails, and tools to the lady's home.  Over the course of seven hours, the workers constructed and installed the fence.  At the end of the day, the lady paid the balance, the workers cleaned up and left, and the lady went outside to admire her new fence.

All was well:  The fence was well built, the customer was pleased with the fair price and good quality, and the fence company made a reasonable profit.  How was this miracle of capitalism accomplished?  How was it that so many elements were in place to allow this project to come to fruition?   Because everyone involved had the same objective:  To improve themselves by providing a quality fence and improving a property and a neighborhood.

All people involved in the fence project were free to do whatever they cared to.  That is, each person had several choices including to buy a fence of numerous styles and qualities, to sell a fence of any quality at any price, to work efficiently on the building of the fence, or to not do any of these things.  For many reasons each person involved decided to cooperate, participate, and perform in a high caliber manner.  The lady bought a high quality fence, the fence company hired good workers and used quality materials, and the workers built the fence very well.  This occurred in the United States of America, but is there something special about the people of the United States of America or is there something very special about the United States of America?  Of course, both are very extraordinary !

All people involved in the fence project are free and chose to perform as they did.  The choices made by these people should not be overlooked when we review Iraq one year after liberation.  Iraqis have been relatively free for nearly a year, yet they have failed to organize, develop plans, repair and build their nation.  In fact, it appears that Iraqis have failed to accept the difficult responsibilities of being free.  Even worse, it appears that the Iraqi people have been so lax in accepting responsibilities and getting to work that evil and poisonous forces prevalent in their region are infiltrating and usurping their unused freedoms and opportunities.

The Iraqi people must understand the consequences of their continued failure to accept freedoms and exercise liberty.  If they continue to allow insurgency to rule through chaos and destruction they will be proving themselves unworthy of the confidence that the US-led coalition had in them as a people.  If, through passivity, they allow demagogues or a dictator to usurp their power, they will have demonstrated their unworthiness of the sacrifices made by soldiers, statesmen and nations in the fight to liberate them.

The Color Of Chaos
Dateline Haiti:

Late February, 2004:  Haiti's President Aristide is under ever-increasing threat and impending assault from rebels demanding his resignation.  Rebels have been gathering strength for weeks and captured Haiti's second largest city.  Rebel leadership -- a collection of criminals, exiles and gun-carrying, machete-wielding thugs -- continues to directly threaten Arisitide and demand his resignation.

The roots of Haiti's Aristide problem go back to 1993.  When, in 1993, a senior CIA officer reported that Aristide was mad, the Clinton administration requested that CIA chief James Woolsey fire the analyst who gave the briefing.  Aristide is reportedly addicted to medications that maintain his mental balance.  While the CIA held on to its assessment of Aristide, the Clinton administration restored Aristide to power.  During Aristide's presidency he encouraged the "necklacing" of political opponents -- that is, a lighting gasoline-soaked tires placed around victim's necks.  Of necklacing, Aristide said, "What a beautiful tool, what a beautiful instrument, what a beautiful device, it's beautiful, yes, it's beautiful, it's cute, it's pretty, it has a good smell.  Wherever you go you want to inhale it."

Rescue Day minus 4:  The Bush-led US government is accused by US black leadership of being insensitive to the black cause and of de facto racism because it has not invaded Haiti to protect Aristide from rebels and put down the rebellion.

Rescue Day minus 3:  The Bush-led US government sends a small marine contingent into Haiti to protect and defend its embassy and personnel.  France calls for a multi-national force to go into Haiti to keep the peace and calls for Aristide to resign.

Rescue Day minus 2:  Haiti's capitol, Port-au-Prince, is in chaos, looting is rampant, human mutilations occur in the streets.  Chaos reigns.  Rebels continue to group and gain strength and threaten Aristide with death if he fails to resign the presidency and leave Haiti.  Aristide continues to hole up in the presidential palace.  The Bush-led US government joins world opinion acknowledging that peace cannot be maintained under Aristide and calls for his resignation.

Rescue Day minus 1:  The Bush-led US government sends additional marines and materiel to ensure the safety of US citizens.

Rescue Day:  Aristide's move to safety:  The Bush-led US government orders marines to support Aristide's resignation and ensure his safe flight.  The Bush-led US government, including Secretary of State Powell, works desperately to find a safe haven nation willing to accept Arisitide as an exile.

Rescue Day plus 1:  The Bush-led US government is accused of forcing Arisitide's resignation, kidnapping him, searching for a safe haven nation and then transporting him to safe exile in a willing African nation.  Those accusing the Bush administration of orchestrating a coup d'etat include members of the US Congressional Black Caucus and other black leaders.  Each is claiming inside information after speaking via telephone with Aristide.  Secretary of State Colin Powell called those claims "absolutely baseless, absurd."

Rescue Day plus 2:  Aristide, now safe, sees that he has lost power, his enemies are in power, and he wants to regain power.  Did Aristide redefine his resignation as a coup d'etat?  Did Aristide redefine his transport to safety as a kidnapping?  Does US black leadership understand what it can lose by undermining US prowess?

Rescue Day plus 3:  The rebel Haitian leader, Guy Philippe, a one time military cadet, declares, "I am the chief."  Chaos continues.

Rescue Day plus a few:  In chaos the chanters yell and dance claiming the US is now occupying Haiti.  This when a multi-national military force -- including French and Canadian troops waiting for the UN to awaken -- is guarding embassies and putting its soldiers in front of swinging machetes to keep something resembling order.  The question is, when will Haitians start chanting "No occupation for oil"?

Rescue Day plus a week:  Speaking in exile from the Central African Republic, Arisitide claims that he remains president of Haiti.  Aristide's lawyer is threatening to sue the US and France.  US helicopters, Marines and French Legionaries patrolled outside the National Palace as Boniface Alexandre was formally installed as interim president.  Reprisal killings continue.  Haitians looted Port-au-Prince's industrial park ransacking and taking toilets, wood paneling, and more.  Demonstrations against and for various factions continue.  Fragments of a frail peace exist within chaos.

Days of Chaos Continue:  In mid-March, the US military will take charge of the multi-national force, officials of the French military headquarters announced.  The multi-national force consists of US, French and Chilean troops.  France will provide 800 to 1,000 troops and a Frenchman will be second-in-command.  Troops from Canada will join the force.  The total contingent is expected to be less than 5,000.  The UN has authorized this interim force which is to last 90 days and is anticipated to be replaced by an extended UN stabilization force.  Violence, chanting, and protests continue.

Two Weeks After Rescue:  Leaving his safe exile and traveling to Jamaica, Arisitide continues to blame the US for deceiving him into leaving Haiti.  The newly sworn in president of Haiti has requested that Arisitide not use his planned stay in Jamaica to interfere in Haitian politics.

Conclusion... Again:  The US should not have reacted to pressure from black politicians and sent marines into Haiti.  Instead, the US should have pushed the UN into doing its job and sending peacekeeping forces to Haiti.

Libya Speaks Volumes:  The Conflict In Iraq Yields Results  --  A Story Of Insanity Is Uncovered  --  Intelligence Has Been Correct.
US's Determined Diplomacy Forced Libya To Surrender Peacefully.  Information Obtained After Libya's Quiet Surrender Connects Pakistan's Nuclear Plans Directly To Proliferation Stretching Across The Middle East & Asia.  China's Technology Sales Initiated The Development.
The coup accomplished by the Bush policy of diplomatic strength from military solidity accomplished the seemingly impossible job of stopping Libya's dictator's weapons of mass destruction program.  Libya's long-time dictator, Moammar Gaddafi, announced in November, 2003 his decision to end Libya's WMD development and opened its weapon laboratories to international inspection.  In January, 2004, diagrams, notes and blueprints were analyzed by experts from Britain, the United States and the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency, the UN's nuclear watchdog.

International weapons inspectors uncovered large amounts of equipment used to manufacture enriched uranium, the key ingredient in nuclear weapons.  The inspectors exposed the rogue nuclear trading network that transferred nuclear technology to Libya, Iran and North Korea.  Documents released by Libya contain full information required to assemble a bomb; builders would need to acquire plutonium or highly enriched uranium to produce a nuclear explosion, according to European and US weapons experts familiar with the blueprints.  One of the major problems involved in building nuclear weapons is obtaining the plutonium or uranium.

The nuclear weaponry designs turned over by Libya to the international inspectors and analysts is irrefutable evidence of China's role in transferring nuclear technology to Pakistan in the early 1980s.  The Pakistani-led trading network then proceeded to transfer nuclear technology and it continues to be dissected by experts in Europe and the US.  Many documents were in Chinese and contained step-by-step instructions on how to assemble an implosion-type nuclear bomb which could be implemented atop a missile, as well as instructions on how to manufacture sub-components. "It was just what you'd have on the factory floor. It tells you what torque to use on the bolts and what glue to use on the parts," one weapons expert who had reviewed the blueprints said in an interview. He described the designs as "very, very old" but "very well engineered."  Experts agree that China was the first link in a chain of proliferation that had stretched across the Middle East and Asia.

U.S. intelligence officials had identified China years ago as the source of Pakistan's nuclear program.  These newly uncovered blueprints demonstrate a wholesale transfer of nuclear technology.  Notes in the document package suggest China continued to assist Pakistan's scientists in finer points of bomb-building for several years.  David Albright, a nuclear physicist and former U.N. weapons inspector in Iraq, said that China's actions "were irresponsible and short-sighted, and raise questions about what else China provided to Pakistan's nuclear program.  These documents also raise questions about whether Iran, North Korea and perhaps others received these documents from Pakistanis or their agents."

A top level Pakistani metallurgist, Abdul Qadeer Khan, acknowledged these facts and his role during his televised confession, just before Pakistan's President, General Pervez Musharraf, pardoned him.

Libya appears to have made little progress in building a weapon and had no missile capable of delivering a nuclear device.  Weapons experts said that the blueprints would be much more valuable to other known customers of Khan's network.  Albright stated that, "This design would be highly useful to countries such as Iran and North Korea."   Albright's Washington-based Institute for Science and International Security has studied non-conventional weapons programs of both countries.  He said, this design "appears deliverable by North Korea's Nodong missile, Iran's Shahab-3 missile and ballistic missiles Iraq was pursuing just prior to the 1991 Persian Gulf War."

These relatively simple designs are the sort that would be highly desired by terrorists.  Terrorist groups are known to be searching for nuclear weapons, but lack technical skills and equipment needed to construct a modern weapon.  Terrorists are not likely to have the ability to deliver these types of nuclear weapons by air.  These blueprints, diagrams and detailed instructions could be used to build a nuclear device that could be delivered in a pickup truck.

US intelligence has been correct.  President Bush's diplomacy yielded dramatic results.  We should now realize how unsafe we are.

All nations are more safe today.  France and Germany are more safe today.  How will they proceed?

United Nations... finally united, but against whom?
The United Nations has condescended to send some of its people to Iraq to review Iraq's potential for holding an open and fair election within the next six months.  Apparently in return the United States has agreed to admit through its Secretary of State, Colin Powell, that it was mistakenly convinced that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.

Some people who know history recall that back in the 1980's, Saddam used chemical and perhaps biological weapons against the Iranians in the war he started in 1981;  he used chemical and perhaps biological weapons against his own people, the Sunnis and Kurds, in the 1990's.  Some people who are awake recall that Saddam was building a nuclear weapons facility in the early 1980's.  Who was fooled in 2003?  Only those who fail to remember Saddam's actual uses of WMD and now --- for short-sighted, self-serving political reasons --- dismiss those instances as irrelevant; they point to the fact that so far no additional evidence of WMD have been found in Iraq since liberation, April 9, 2003.  Today's ostriches refuse to acknowledge that WMD could have been shuffled across borders into Syria, Iran, or other states run by madmen who are always on the lookout for additional munitions to bully and disrupt the region.

Today it appears intelligence from the region may have been flawed and was unjustifiably indicating that Saddam had additional WMD.  If we look back over his reign in Iraq we know of Saddam's use of WMD and understand how plausible it was one year ago and in the aftermath of 9/11 events to accept as fact that he was developing more WMD.  A few points are not deniable:
1.)  Saddam used WMD to kill hundreds of thousands of human beings -- many of whom were Muslim;
2.)  Saddam killed, tortured, and imprisoned hundreds of thousands of Iraqis;
3.)  Saddam stole from his people and impeded Iraq's cultural, educational, economic life so severely that it will take decades for Iraqis to recover;
4.)  Saddam supported regional and global terrorism financially, logistically and spiritually;
5.)  Saddam was financially and personally capable of using WMD at any time in the future; today he would have had the cover of the ongoing War Against Terrorism to act recklessly.

But Saddam Hussein was stopped, his murdering bully followers captured, and the Iraqi people have been liberated and are now free to be the best they can be.

The United Nations had the cowardice to pull out of Iraq some months ago after some of its workers were killed by insurgents.  Now the UN arm-twists the US before agreeing to return to do the very work that the UN was established in 1945 to do.  OK, perhaps intelligence was not perfect.  Perhaps the US acted with somewhat incorrect intelligence in preventing Saddam from acting like himself again.  Perhaps the Iraqi people are safer and have more potential than at any time in recent decades because the US acted.  OK, perhaps the world has one less murdering dictator controlling oil supplies, threatening Kuwait and other neighbors because the US acted.

And if the UN were to be successful in chastising and embarrassing the US and its coalition partners, who would remain to protect the UN and its member's sovereignties?  Perhaps the UN believes that France, Germany, Russia and some African nations will save civilization from future dictators, fanatics and terrorists?  If the UN succeeds in embarrassing the US, will France, Germany, Russia and some African nations again be free to sell war materiel to the next group of Saddam act-alikes?  What nation will the UN and its neo-pacifist members rely upon to lead the world economy out of recessions?  What nation will the UN rely upon to save it and its neo-pacifist members when the next Saddam decides it is his turn to take over a Kuwait, kill his own people, destroy infidels with impunity?

It's your fault. It's not my fault. I did not cause my problems. You caused my problems. Now you must fix my problems.

Thanks to the generosity of the US-led coalition, the Iraqi people are now free to work and accomplish for themselves.  The Iraqi people own the world's second largest oil reserve.  But instead of having already energetically started extracting and selling oil, collecting money, building schools and, even marbleized, overly gold-encrusted shopping malls, they sit and complain.  They wait for the United States to build and provide... and pay.  But their self-anointed leaders want control and the ensuing power.  What will their self-anointed leaders do with the power and oil money they may soon control?  Will they ensure the Iraqi people have better lives?  Or will they do as too many other self-anointed leaders of the region have over centuries: Install themselves, covet power, control resources, repress masses?

True and worthy leaders must be selected through fair, open election processes.  If, as a product of fair, open elections, people select unworthy leaders, they get what they really deserve... no matter what nation they reside in.

How did the United States ascend to own the world's largest economy, have the world's highest standard of living, be populated with so many well-fed, over-weight people?  The United States ascended to greatness because for over 200 years the majority of its people worked to get educated, worked to produce, worked to be civilized.  Today the United States has achieved it all.  So, if you want to be comfortable, wealthy, and a little (or a lot) over weight, just get to work.   Learn from the US of yesterday.  Work works.

We constantly hear whining from around the globe:   "It's ALL somebody else's fault. I didn't cause my problems.  I deserve better than what I have.  I don't deserve to be poor, unhealthy, politically repressed, a cultural underclass, endangered medically and always hungry.  I deserve better -- a euphemism for less strenuous work with more pay.  I deserve everything that I want.

Maybe not.  Maybe you don't deserve much more than exactly and precisely what you have at this very moment.

Why would you deserve more than you now have?  Did you get yourself educated and trained?  Do you get up everyday, think about what you could do to improve your plight in life?   Do you go to work everyday attempting to work harder and do a better job?  Do you have realistic long-term goals?  Do you apply yourself everyday to achieve those goals?

Think about what it is that you actually deserve.  Understand that due to an ever-evolving, numb and dumbed-down educational system, having allowed ourselves to become over-emotionalized, kidnapped and taken hostage into lackadaisical vagaries of sloppiness, we are unable to do anything more than whine, complain and point fingers at others with increasing violence.  All of that while proclaiming our problems to be someone else's faults.

Toyota has passed Ford and now is the world's second largest manufacturer.  China has passed Japan and now is the world's second largest consumer of oil.  Where will your homeland be in 20 years?

The High Cost Of Free Advice

IMF economists recently warned that US budget deficits could hurt the global economy by pushing up interest rates and bringing about disorderly currency markets.  The report stated that, "Large US fiscal deficits also pose significant risks for the rest of the world."  Charles Collins, head of the IMF team that monitors the US economy, acknowledged that so far the dollar's decline has not jeopardized European and Japanese economic recoveries, but there is a danger for the global economy which could grow if US budget deficits don't shrink.  IMF researchers said there will not be adequate funding for government long-term fiscal expenses including financing of Social Security and Medicare programs over the next 75 years.  Their scenario quantified the potential inflation-adjusted rise in interest rates to 0.5% to 1%.  They suggested that the US Congress allow current tax cuts to expire in 2013 and initiate an energy consumption tax saying that, in their opinion, such tax increases would have minimal impact upon US growth.

IMF economists should ask themselves why their organization and every area of life in the civilized world has increased security after 9/11/2001.  IMF economists should understand that without the massive offensive and defensive measures being implemented by the US around the world, terrorism likely would have proliferated, hit more institutions and cities, and killed inestimable thousands.

IMF economists should understand that waging these offensive and defensive battles costs money.  The billions of dollars being invested in defense and prevention measures by the US around the world is an investment in civilization's viability.  The billions of borrowed dollars are used to pay salaries of soldiers, to pay for materiel and employees of companies researching, producing and working to protect and secure civilized people everywhere.  This money does not get lost as does so much other money allocated by the IMF to support chronically unproductive peoples.

IMF economists should understand that to extrapolate an intermediate trend while ignoring its causes and subordinate interrelationships leads to fallacious conclusions.  Today's industrialized nations' economies are complex and intertwined with irregular, unsynchronized cycles consisting of long and short phases, some up and some down.  If we were to extrapolate a child's physical development based upon its growth during ages 1 through 10, it would appear to be destined to grow to a height of 100's of feet and weight of 1,000's of pounds.  IMF economists should have more confidence in the power of free financial markets to rationalize interest rates.   They should have less confidence in incalculable extrapolations.

Deficits and surpluses come and go.  Great powers come and go.  The US must not be bullied into losing its great power status through early surrender in the global economic war.  The US will remain a great power only by borrowing today to finance the War Against Terrorism while building its economy.  As the US and its allies defeat terrorism it will win the long-term global economic war and prosper.  The US deficit will be paid for by US economic prosperity created by today's borrowing to keep civilization safe and secure.  Today's deficits are as unimportant as those accumulated in the mid-1980's that later fueled the global expansion of the 90's.

Next:  Not Death...  Prevention.

Dateline Christmas Day, 2003:  Indications are that al Qaeda and related fanatics planned to kill, destroy and demoralize civilization by crashing airliners into the Vatican and Las Vegas.  The plan involved several Air France 747 airliners that were to be used as weapons.  French authorities were warned.  Because events were occurring on French soil, French authorities were asked to cooperate in the pre-flight investigations.  They handled the situation by canceling several Christmas eve flights, interviewing suspects, declaring them free of any apparent terrorist participation, and releasing them.

The world will never know for certain whether or not the plot was real.  However the world does know that there are fanatics planning to kill and destroy civilized people around the world.  Fanatics admit and brag about their plotting and plans.  Intelligence agencies in several nations independently verify the plotting and that fanatics intend to kill and destroy.

We do know for certain:
1.)  Fanatics are plotting to kill and destroy;
2.)  Fanatics have been successful numerous times in recent years;
3.)  Civilized people are extremely vulnerable due to their open and free lifestyles.

Dateline Today:  Foiling the Christmas, 2003, attacks combined with pre- and post-9/11 evidence verifies that civilization must act preemptively to prevent more terrorist inflicted disasters.  International cooperation beyond political self interest is required to save lives and stop terrorism.

It Worked

Libya's long-time leader, Colonel Moammar Gadhafi, admitted his country was developing weapons of mass destruction and stated that it will dismantle its secret projects.  President Bush announced Libya agreed to end development of unconventional weapons, join treaties banning nuclear and chemical weapons, and immediately allow international inspectors in to verify this commitment.  Negotiations were initiated by Gadhafi's personal envoys, have proceeded for nine months, and are now being implemented.

President Bush has been criticized and ridiculed by domestic critics as well as self-proclaimed know-it-alls operating in other nations for personal or short-sighted reasons.  He held firm and forged the US-led global coalition to shut down terrorism.  Bush's coalition of the willing has assisted other nations' anti-terrorism forces for over two years around the world including Afghanistan, Indonesia, Iraq and others.  Gadhafi's surrender was achieved without a shot being fired or a US soldier's life being sacrificed.

President Bush's approach has worked and it will continue to work.  Bullies can be scared into submission.

Organization Man Needed.  Must Have Iron Fist.

The Iraqi Coalition Provisional Authority must organize, delegate, control, direct, and monitor contractors and Iraqis.  Iraqis have lived for 1/3 century under a regime which failed to teach and promote creative development and productive work ethics.  The correct way to ensure successful development of Iraq is to provide detailed task plans with each assignment, monitor progress daily, and make it known that delays, mistakes, and lazy work habits will result in immediate removal of contractors and Iraqi workers.

Paul Bremer is a diplomat.  He must find authoritarian individuals with experience in organizing, controlling, monitoring and on-time completion of large-scale projects.  Bremer must immediately:

1.)   Assemble a military arm to monitor military operations; assemble a build Iraq arm to monitor building of the government and infrastructure;
2.)   Develop strategic objectives and identify tactical plans to achieve each. (For example: eliminate insurgency, provide fresh water and electricity to all Iraqis, etc.);
3.)   Assign projects to qualified contractors and Iraqis;
4.)   Monitor work at detailed levels;
5.)   Eliminate unproductive workers;
6.)   Reassign uncompleted projects to more competent workers and organizations;
7.)   Repeat these tasks until Iraq is built into something resembling a productive nation that can continue on its own momentum.

For the US, this war can still easily be lost.  Its final outcome will not be judged by military success.  It will be judged by how effectively Iraq is molded into a productive nation... with or without one of those idealistic democratic governments.

Either we organize the contractors and Iraqis into coherent organizations or we will lose the war mission because another Saddam Hussein will rise to control.

Saddam Hussein Captured

The US-led coalition liberated Iraq from its 34 year long cruel, murderous regime, captured its dictator, freed the region of a despicable creature, and further demonstrated that the US objective has been and will remain to assist the Iraqi people.

France and Germany sold weaponry, chemical, and nuclear industrial technology, supplies and equipment to Hussein while opposing US goals and methods.  They now live in a safer world without having spent one life or one euro.  What will France and Germany do for the Iraqi people?  ...For regional peace and stability?  ...For world progress?

A good first step to demonstrate that France and Germany are sincere in their talk about peace and progress would be to forgive the debts Saddam Hussein accumulated in the name of the Iraqi people.

Captured In A Spider Hole

His first words when found in the hole:   "Don't shoot."

The cruel dictator who killed so many, had so many kill for him, and forced many more to die for him is now exposed.

He is --- and has always been --- a standard issue, cowering, cruel, bully.

Caught like a rat.

Where Is The Reasonable Man?

A US judge has ruled that a US citizen who was a Chicago gang member and is believed to have been plotting to deploy a dirty nuclear device on US soil cannot be held without being charged and provided counsel.  Separately, another US court has ruled and quickly stayed its own ruling that the foreign combatants now being held at the Guantanamo Bay detention facility must be provided counsel.  Media reports declare that these rulings are major setbacks for President Bush.

Instead of inflammatory headlines, these rulings should be understood for what they are.  They highlight the need for pragmatic tactics in wartime.  We are at war and these rulings will be taken in stride by our rational US leadership committed to preventing more terrorist attacks while waging an effective global war against terrorists.  The US administration and military will adjust their tactics to ensure that terrorists remain locked up unable to commit terrorist acts.

The Chicago gang member who joined al Qaeda in order to deploy a dirty nuclear device is a US citizen and therefore deserves counsel as well as all constitutional rights he is allegedly working to destroy for others.  An aspect of waging war often involves dealing with citizen traitors. The US administration and the Justice Department understand this and will use precedent and make precedent to eliminate this thug from al Qaeda's list of effective agents.

The more substantive question regards enemy combatants caught in treacherous acts who are not US citizens.  Why should these enemies, whose main objective is to kill US citizens and destroy the rights and liberties guaranteed by the US Constitution, be afforded those same rights and privileges?  Any rational, analytical,  knowledgeable person understands these rights and privileges should not be awarded to enemy combatants.

The US judicial system needs to be reconstituted with the return of the Reasonable Man sitting on its benches.  The Reasonable Man understands the consequences of rulings in the context of wartime tactics and strategies.

Entertaining The Terrorists While They Plot

December, 2003:  Today we are exposed to unceasing media reports that the company Dick Cheney used to run, Halliburton, has over-charged US taxpayers for gasoline provided to Iraq.  Details vary depending upon which strident, juvenile reporter grabbed the microphone to shout, but to them the highlight is that the over-charge was inflicted by the company VP Dick Cheney ran, Halliburton.

Halliburton, founded in 1919, is one of the world's largest providers of products and services for the oil and gas industries and employs more than 96,000 people in over 120 nations.  Dick Cheney, a life-long businessman and public servant, was CEO of Halliburton for some years during the 1990's.  He resigned his position to return to public life and run for VP of the United States in 2000.

In fact, the alleged over-charging was initiated by a Halliburton sub-sub-contractor, a Kuwaiti company owned and operated by Kuwaitis.  There will be a review of the quantities of gasoline actually brought into Iraq, the contractual pricing structure, arithmetic will be used to calculate the correct charges and that amount will be compared to the amount the Kuwaitis charged.  If there was an over-charge, more arithmetic will be used to correct the situation.  Dick Cheney had nothing to do with the alleged Kuwaiti over-charge of the past few months.

Imagine what your life would be without American capitalism, invention and hard-working Americans such as Dick Cheney.  You might be living in a cave adjacent to today's terrorist primitives, observing some other prosperous, productive nation.  You might share with your terrorist neighbors their jealous, envious anger and inability to participate in progress.  But, seriously folks, one must wonder even if any other nation could have accomplished a small portion of the productivity, invention and prosperity of the United States over the last 250 years.  We must stop entertaining terrorists by attacking successful American capitalists; we must unite to attack the terrorists who are working with capitalistic vigor to kill us.

Ready / Set / Go

Iraq has not yet developed and implemented a constitution.  Even if it is unable to write one from scratch, perhaps the Iraqi Governing Council could use the following information.  In 1066, England developed the Magna Carta.  In 1776, the US hammered together its constitution and Bill of [Human] Rights.  France has several constitution variations developed and scrapped over the last 200 years.  Perhaps the Iraqi Governing Council could locate copies of these documents, cut & paste highlights, and implement its plagiarized constitution.  Even plagiarized progress is progress.

President George W. Bush Speaking To U.S. Troops During His Surprise Visit Thanksgiving Day In Iraq

"We did not charge hundreds of miles into the heart of Iraq, pay a bitter cost of casualties, defeat a ruthless dictator and liberate 25 million people only to retreat before a band of thugs and assassins."

"We will prevail. We will win because our cause is just. We will win because we will stay on the offensive."

Worthy?

Iraqis celebrate the killing of 7 Spanish workers
In a separate attack, two Japanese diplomats were shot to death.
Following President Bush's Thanksgiving visit to our troops, some Iraqis interviewed in Baghdad streets complained that Mr. Bush did not walk those streets in search of their opinions and concerns.  Hussein sometimes walked the streets during his 34 years of killing, torturing, raping, imprisoning his people.  Hussein walked the streets to get kissed by the illiterates that he terrorized and held in poverty for 34 years while failing to build or maintain the nation or provide for his people.

President Bush had the courage and fortitude to put his job, the world's opinion of the United States, and several hundred thousand servicemen in harm's way in order to liberate 25 million Iraqis.  He is not the Iraqi people's president; he is their liberator.  Mr. Bush is the American people's president; that is why he went to visit American troops in Iraq.

As Iraqis sit in coffee shops sipping coffee and complaining about how bad things are in today's liberated Iraq, they fail to realize that they are displaying their collective character and lack of work initiative.  If they are worthy of the already massive US political, military, economic efforts expended and continuing, they should be running to the nearest US and UN offices to proclaim their desires to participate in the building of Iraq instead of complaining that Mr. Bush did not talk with them personally.  For the first time in at least 34 years, Iraq is filled with opportunities and nations and agencies willing to assist and fund the Iraqi people in building infrastructure, schools, restaurants, homes --- absolutely anything.

So, all you newly liberated Iraqis, first say, "Thank you, Mr. Bush and the US."  Then get to work building your country... if you are up to the task, that is.

The Inappropriately Polite Path Is Paved With Losers

President George W. Bush is being inappropriately polite.  The fact is that the US-led coalition performed a near miracle in a short time when it liberated 24 million Iraqis.  The US-led coalition met its objectives on April 9, and has continued building Iraqi infrastructure, ensuring the Iraqi people's safety, and preparing them for self-governance and prosperity.

We are disappointed in the fact that the Iraqi people seem unwilling or unable to accept responsibility for taking control of their own country now that we have secured it for them.  We miscalculated Iraqi unwillingness to accept responsibility and opportunity.  In this we were surprised, but we are still working with the Iraqis to achieve this goal as quickly as possible.

President Bush can not rely on the intellect of the world to clearly understand this.  Too many people across the world believe themselves to be experts; they are inadequate at second guessing.  The War Against Terrorism will be won when the majority of the world's people realize all that has been accomplished by the US-led coalition for the Iraqi people...  and for civilized people of all nations desiring peace, liberty and progress.

Neither Present Bush nor the American people should make excuses for the Iraqi people's shortcomings.  The Iraqi people must accept responsibility, use the opportunity handed them and display some leadership.

Milestones In The Ongoing Global War Against Terrorism

War Fronts, Activities, Stages & Descriptions

No Excuse

Months after the liberation of Iraq we hear ranting from superficially-thinking people with little historical perspective and lacking understanding of what it takes to accomplish big things when millions of people are involved.  These people claim the War Against Terrorism's Iraqi front is stalemated, that soldiers and civilians are dying for naught, and that Iraq should be abandoned.  Those people are speaking from their comfortable, safe, financially secure, civilized hometowns.  They likely have never been threatened by anything close to a dictator.  They have plans for tomorrow, for next year, goals for themselves, families and friends.  They are somewhat educated and civilized.

Those people reach their conclusions about Iraqis by misapplying the premise that Iraqis are civilized and think like westerners.  That sends the them on a tangent which inhibits their understanding today's Iraqis.  It is invalid to apply -- to overlay -- western civilization's values and perspectives upon the minds of the Iraqi people.  The Iraqi people are primarily under 40, educated in Hussein regime run schools, taught what was needed to ensure obedience to Hussein through fear, and taught to hate and mistrust the West.

Liberation meant to most Iraqis the loss of their leader and his controlling guidance.  To Iraqis Hussein provided control and fear, but they learned to exist -- outsiders might call it subsist -- but they did live to see tomorrow.

Democracy and capitalism may not be the mechanisms within which the Iraqi people can function.

The Iraqi people need to be guaranteed that they will continue to have their rights: Life, Liberty, and their pursuit of happiness without fear of retribution from another Hussein regime.  There is only one way to provide that genuine liberation for the Iraqi people and that should be the primary job of the US-led coalition.

The US must:

1.)  Find -- immediately -- and eliminate Saddam Hussein forever from all Iraqis' lives;    > Well Done, 12/13/2003

2.)  Establish a reasonably safe Iraq with borders, cities, villages and tribal outposts patrolled by US-trained Iraqi civil and military forces;

3.)  Initiate building the infrastructure that Hussein failed to build or maintain thereby getting industry producing and oil moving;

4.)  Exit Iraq when: 1.) Infrastructure construction, and, 2.) Democratic government have been initiated and are progressing.  At that point -- and not before that point -- the US must declare victory and allow the Iraqi people to sink or swim with their skills, determination, and ownership of the world's second largest oil reserve.  Once the Iraqi people are liberated, guaranteed safety, and given productive momentum, they must perform.  They must succeed or fail as we all must do at various times.

This is not a US bail out strategy.  It is a winning strategy that gives the Iraqi people a framework with tools and then phases out US involvement.

There is no excuse for the US-led coalition of 130,000 soldiers, including our militarily trained and experienced officer corps, to allow Hussein to exist this long after Iraq's liberation.  His existence has stopped progress.  And now it is causing setbacks for liberty.

Whether it will be a retired US general, a diplomat, a businessman, or a someone with other experience, the United States must immediately put a forceful, outgoing leader in control with the mandate to find and eliminate Hussein.  There is no excuse for any US Chief Administrator, just as there is no excuse for the United States to allow Hussein to continue to run his tribal conglomerate from a different tent each day.  No excuse and not much time.

The Unknown Percentage

How many Hussein loyalists are joining the Iraqi police force to receive US training, learn procedures and obtain logistic information in order to attack American forces? We will never know, but it should be assumed to be a meaningful percentage.

Preventing, routing out and severely punishing all insurgents who infiltrate training programs is imperative. Elimination and prevention of insurgent infiltration today will help ensure tomorrow's success. It is imperative that the Iraqi people be fortified to resist the ascension of the next Saddam Hussein.

What Do They Want When It's All Over?

Terrorism graduated from airline hijackings in the 1990's.  Today's terrorists appropriate decades-old technology, packing C4 explosive in pickup trucks to kill, injure, destroy, and damage international relations.

Terrorism strengthens bonds between civilized nations whose shared long-term goal is progress with peace.  Eventually these strengthened bonds will congeal civilized nations into a force that will defeat the terrorists and make terrorism nonviable.

After terrorism is defeated civilized people may look back and ask, "Why and what did the terrorists expect to accomplish?  Why would they want to move billions of people back into a dark age?  Why, after thousands of years and billions of people have labored to make progress and become civilized would the al Qaeda-types expect us to retrogress into the caves with them?"

There are several long academic responses arguably appropriate for doctoral theses, but superfluous here.  The point is that the goal of terrorism is retrogression and therefore, antithetical to most people's nature.  Terrorism only survives today because most people do not yet feel a personal danger; most people need to perceive that obvious deadly dangers are imminent upon them before they are forced into defensive actions.  Even today, too many people want to believe that if they ignore the terrorists, they will go away.  But schoolyard bullies, street thugs, and global terrorists rarely redirect themselves toward productive goals.  Terrorists have been indoctrinated from birth, trained to terrorize, cannot be important in other ways, and have no compunction about killing and being killed.  They will not go away.  They must be conquered on their turf before they can impose death upon civilized homelands everywhere.

This Time It Is Different

It is a mistake to attempt to impute western civilization's ethics, morals, human rights philosophies, and rational logic upon the people of Iraq.

World War II -- War About Political Philosophies

Civilization's philosophies clash: Democracy versus Totalitarianism

World War III -- War Against Terrorism

Civilization attacked: Progress & Liberty versus A Dark Dogma of Oppression

1945: Italy -- Following liberation, the people celebrated, hung Mussolini in a public square, renounced his regime and got busy rebuilding their infrastructure and culture. Italy rebuilt itself into a productive nation.

1945: Germany -- Following liberation, the people celebrated, joined in to rebuild their nation's industry, actively denounced the Hitler and Nazi philosophy and methods. Germany rebuilt itself into a productive nation.

1945: France -- Following liberation, the people celebrated, joined together to rebuild the Republic, restart industry and agriculture, and select leaders for progress. France rebuilt itself into a productive nation.

1945: Japan -- After experiencing the heat of two nuclear explosions, the Japanese realized that they lost the war they had started.   Guided by the benevolent US, the Japanese people implemented a new constitution, rebuilt their economy, infrastructure, and within three decades were reaping rewards by operating the world's second largest economy.

Following liberation, European nations and Japan reassembled internally, looked for financial aid, used the Marshall Plan to build industries with their minds and muscles, selected new leaders and built nations that respect individualism within frameworks of liberty and justice.

2003: Iraq -- Following liberation, the Iraqi people provided safe haven for most of the old leadership including Hussein, failed to denounce Hussein, expected the US-led coalition to build an infrastructure that did not exist under Hussein.
Hussein's Iraq remains alive: The Iraqi people's governing council, composed of representatives from most tribes, is failing to assemble a nation from the conflicting tribal conglomeration that had permitted one tribal leader, Hussein, to take control and use his tribe as a ruling minority of thugs over a sovereign nation.
Iraq apparently has few, if any leaders left. Over 34 years Hussein killed most potential leaders. Those alive today remain afraid of his return and will not come forth until he is captured and permanently removed. Are the Iraqi people capable of assembling a nation without dogmatic instruction from their pseudo-father, Hussein, who only taught them destruction and fear?
Iraq has been given opportunity and guidance that should have demonstrated how to build a productive nation. By now they should have adapted the constitutions of European nations and the US for Iraq. Aid and liberation have not been used by the Iraqi people to benefit from having been placed on the world's second largest oil reserve. Is Iraq a nation or a contiguous area where many tribes live?

Iraq has not yet developed and implemented a constitution. Even if it is unable to write one from scratch, perhaps the Iraqi Governing Council could use the following information. In 1066, England developed the Magna Carta. In 1776, the US hammered together its constitution and Bill of [Human] Rights. France has several constitution variations developed and scrapped over the last 200 years. Perhaps the Iraqi Governing Council could locate copies of these documents, cut & paste highlights, and implement its plagiarized constitution. Even plagiarized progress is progress.

These facts speak irrefutable truths.  Western civilization should not make the mistake of imputing its values, objectives, perspectives and mores upon the Arab peoples.

War

March 15, 2003:  The ongoing War Against Terrorism opened up on the Iraqi front.  Objectives included: Liberation of the Iraqi people, Hussein regime removal, and providing the Iraqi people with freedoms and tools to use their abilities to build Iraq into a civilized, self-sufficient nation.

Phase I, Primary Attack, March 15 to April 9:  Task:  Apply massive force to Hussein's military to accomplish relevant objectives.  Within four weeks the US-led coalition liberated Iraq from the 34-year long entrenched despotic Hussein regime.  By May 1, a well designed strategy with efficient tactical delivery of massive force accomplished Phase I's primary objectives of liberation and Hussein regime removal.   The primary military mission was accomplished.  A pause to applaud the military's excellent performance was in order:  Mission Accomplished

Phase II, Clean-up, ~ March 25 to ~ September 10:  Task:  Destroy remnants of Hussein's regime and control regional insurgents who refuse to allow the Iraqi people to live in freedom.   The majority of Iraqis are passively prepared to accept new freedoms and live in productive peace.  Many stubbornly destructive activists of the 34 year old regime have been killed.  However, other unthinking fanatics have done what bullies do so well:  run away, hide, rearm and regroup.

Phase III, Development, Ongoing coalition phase-out with Iraqi phase-in:  Task:  Ensure freedom, safety and resources exist to allow the Iraqi people to reach their full potential to develop Iraq into a productive nation cooperating with other civilized nations while providing good life style for the majority of Iraqis.  Build new infrastructure including electric, water, roads, housing, food and medical services and systems.   Accomplish all this for people who have not been educated nor had control of their lives and are therefore unable to comprehend clean safe living, daily work, earning incomes, and enjoying freedoms with family and friends.  Meaningful progress has been made in this decades-old, un-maintained nation.  Progress is greater in Northern and Southern areas and less in central Iraq, Hussein's tribal homeland.

Today's Iraq is not similar to post-W.W.II Germany.  The Germans of 1945 were war-weary, educated, intellectually alert, innately hard working people ready to live in peace, produce and grow Germany into a global economic powerhouse.  The majority of Germans were able to understand, accept and use the opportunities provided by the US' Marshall Plan.  Opportunity was welcomed, utilized and with it, Germans created today's Germany.

Today, the majority of Iraqis are under 40, have never lived in freedom, have been indoctrinated to live controlled by fear, distrust westerners, are not educated in arts and sciences, and do not think independently.  The majority of Iraqis are passive --- they have only known Hussein's methods and remain afraid to openly express themselves and resist Hussein's remnants.  A relatively small minority of Iraqis are unthinking Hussein loyalists who prefer fighting and destruction to peace and building.  Today, this minority continues to re-arm and re-group.  Due to the simplistic strategy of terrorism and terrorist tactics, a few loyalists can work to bring back the past.  Because Hussein has not been captured or killed, there is potential for his return that gives hope to the loyalist minority and a haunting fear to the majority of Iraqis.  The lurking, unprogressive Hussein loyalist bullies undermine everyday life throughout Iraq.  They make building and securing Iraq more difficult than similar tasks were in post-W.W.II Germany.

Phase III is plagued by the distorted psychology of those unthinking fanatical destroyers who dance on their enemy's human remains and downed helicopters, snipe from corners, and commit suicide just to damage a building or kill a few liberators.  Phase III's progress is micro-incremental, not macro.  Phase III will end successfully only after enough micro death and destruction adds up to a meaningful macro victory.

What's (Really) Up, Doc???

We are repetitively instructed that building Iraq will require us to first loan and/or give tens of billions of dollars to Iraq.  The money will be used to build the nation that Hussein neglected, deformed and disfigured over his 34 year despotic reign.

Let's pause... and let us even think.  Iraq sits upon one of the world's largest oil reserves.  This oil reserve is not unique.   It does not require some special, unconventional technology.  Iraq is already producing oil.  Iraq could produce more oil using current technology if it were secure and had more equipment.

Now let's imagine that the coalition nations, having liberated Iraq, now upgrade existing Iraqi oil field equipment, bring in new oil extraction, pumping, refining and shipping resources.   Then Iraqi workers could pump more oil and arrange to sell it to coalition nations.  Coalition nations could replace oil that is now purchased from less progressive nations such as Iran and Liberia with oil from Iraq.  The money spent by coalition nations for oil it buys anyway would become income for Iraq.

At that point Iraq would be earning money.  Iraq would have its own money to purchase all the electric power, water filtration plants, schools, food, housing, infrastructure, hospitals, cell phones and everything that it needs using its own earned income.

Iraq does not need loans, grants, gifts or handouts.

Meeting Commitments

A survey of US troops several months after Iraq's liberation highlighted two points: 1.) Morale is low in about 1 of 3 of the troops, and 2.) About 1 of 2 do not plan to re-up.  In April of 2003, those same troops successfully completed the historically momentous removal of a classic tyrannical, despotic mass murderer and his regime.  Thanks to decades of precise planning, great leadership and following orders, these troops liberated 23 million Iraqis.

Do these troops understand the importance of their work?  Do they understand that their work was only one step in one of several war fronts in the War Against Terrorism?  Do they understand that the War Against Terrorism will continue for years?  Do they realize that unless they and tens of thousands like them perform at least as well on the upcoming battlefronts, the United States will be pulled into the spiral of redirecting and wasting resources to defend itself at home?

Do US troops see the historic perspective?  In 1850, Great Britain led the world in military and economic power.  By 1900, the US surpassed Britain to become the world's most militarily powerful and wealthy nation.  Today US troops -- and those home-bound, self-centered, destructive, infighting Americans -- should understand that the US can actually fall from its position as the world's safest, most free, land of opportunity devolving into something much less comfortable.

The troops volunteered to defend the benefits we all share.  We civilians live safe, free, comfortable lives.  All of us have the obligation to stop whining, pitch in and meet our implicit commitments to preserve and protect that which so many have fought and died for over centuries:  The United States of America.  It is not yours obligation-free.

Homeland Security Can Be Secured By Attaining Global Security

Findings from within terrorist cells and captured top leaders indicate terrorists continue planning to use relatively simple tools and methods to inflict damage upon civilization.  Reports indicate that in addition to airplanes and car bombs, terrorists are planning to use cell phones, cameras, radios -- electronic devices of all sorts --  modified to perform as weapons and destructive tools. Terrorists realize the obvious fact that in today's technological, chip-filled world it is possible to turn almost any common device into a bomb or debilitating tool.

People responsible for homeland security functions must realize that these devices can not be stopped.  Terrorists so bent upon using their minds to convert a cell phone into bomb and their bodies into homicide bombers will not be stopped.  There are too many terrorists and too many devices.  There are too many vulnerabilities in our civilized society.

The magnitude of damage that terrorists can inflict upon civilization is measurable in buildings, airplanes, infrastructure elements, dollars and deaths.  However the actual damage and real destruction terrorism will inflict upon civilization goes far beyond that calculus.  Civilization is now being distracted, expending resources, and importantly its people -- especially the young -- are being psychologically damaged.  Civilized people are impacted daily with warnings and overhanging fears that erode their ability to produce efficiently.  The magnitude of this destruction is exponentially damaging over years.  Too large a percentage of each civilized person's day is filled with life-threatening concerns.  Children are maturing with dark, overhanging distractions and fears.  This is causing a deceleration of progress.

Civilized people want to achieve maximum production with high efficiency.  To reach these goals civilization must prioritize objectives and:

1.)  Cleanse each nation of infiltrated terrorist operatives.  Use domestic forces, policies and laws.  Act expeditiously and with thoroughness;
2.)  Reach into all terrorist enclaves everywhere and eliminate the root forces that direct and motivate global plotting, planning and implementation of terrorist activities;
3.)  Apply reasonable amounts of security to the homeland efforts.  Suppress what can reasonably be suppressed without allowing terrorists to cause us to put ourselves in overly secured boxes.

Implementation of this plan will greatly reduce terrorist destruction within civilized nations, stop terrorism at its bases and most importantly, free civilized people from the daily burdens associated with terrorism threats.  Civilized people will then be able to live civilized, productive and satisfying lives.  They should be allowed to worry freely about progress, education, work and life.

It's So Easy

It would have been so easy to celebrate being liberated from one of the most despicable tyrannical despotic dictators of the 20th century and then get to work.  That was a reasonable plan for the Iraqi people in May, 2003.

Iraq has 24 million people.  If only a few thousand Iraqis had celebrated their liberation and then looked at each other and said, "Wow, we are liberated and free to do whatever we want!  The Americans are here.  They were good enough to damage very little while they liberated us.  Now they are here with technology, money, equipment and they want to (re)build our country.  Let's get them to prove how sincere they are.  Let's get them to teach us and work with us to build Iraq.  We will call it "rebuilding," but we know that little has been built over the 34 years of Hussein's rule.  Let's call it rebuilding even if it really is almost all original and new construction.  We'll take the Americans up on their commitment to the world and make them (re)build our desert.  All we have to do is cooperate with each other and the Americans.  While those naive Americans are here building infrastructure, factories, schools, and housing for us, we will make them modernize our oil fields also so we can become self-sufficient and independent.  We'll make the Americans build Iraq into a global commercial powerhouse for us, the Iraqi people!"

It was so easy for civilized people to imagine that to be the natural path for a newly liberated people.  After all, the Americans provided the same types of aid after World War II for Japan, Germany, the Philippines, several European countries and look what they built.

Today, months after being liberated  ---  freed to accomplish anything that they might be capable of  ---  the Iraqi people continue infighting, killing each other and killing Americans who liberated them and remain in Iraq only to assist, build, and help the Iraqi people in so many ways.

It was so easy for Americans to plan for, but apparently too difficult for the Iraqi people to accomplish.

Sorry, wrong number.

The United States recently asked its allies and other benevolent nations to participate in the building of Iraq.  Their financial participation was to be used to build the electric, water, waste disposal, roads and communication infrastructures, schools, factories, recreational, shopping and cultural institutions the dictator Hussein neglected for 34 years.  The US was not asking its allies and other benevolent nations to repair the very limited damage inflicted during the few weeks it took to liberate Iraq.  This will be a process of building upon outdated and nearly useless infrastructure.

In the UN France, Germany and other benevolent nations having previously been liberated, built and rebuilt by the US quickly rejected the opportunity to help the Iraqi people.  These benevolent nations obviously hold more important their potential opportunity to inflict political and economic damage upon the US than they value providing aid to the Iraqi people.

Sorry, France, Germany and you other benevolent nations, we only offered you the opportunity to provide some number of dollars of financial aid to allow you to make up for your recent inadequacies in liberating the Iraqi people.  Now you have again demonstrated the magnitude of your benevolent feelings toward the Iraqi people.

Fortunately the Iraqi people do not need your handouts... nor does the United States need your assistance.

Iraq has one of the world's largest oil reserves.  Assuming the Iraqi people have the character to do so, they will want to use whatever relatively small portion of their oil reserve it takes to pay for the building of their own nation.  It would have been nice for Germany, France and other benevolent nations to offer financial aid up front, but their grudge against   --  and envy of  --  the US obviously rules their actions and overcomes their benevolence.

Today, as so many times before, the US will provide ingenuity, generosity, skill and sincere commitment to the Iraqi people and aid them in the building of their nation.  Thanks to the American people the Iraqi people may soon join the civilized world in educated, progressive life styles commensurate with their abilities.

Everyone has advice.  Try making the big decisions...  and living with the real problems.

In 1940 pacifists held such a beachhead inside the US that FDR had to set up the Lend-Lease program -- a sham -- in order to provide Britain with armament enough to stave off the impending German onslaught.  Suddenly on December 7, 1941, the rage of World War II hit all Americans including many pacifists.  On December 8, 1941, most Americans realized that reality, not war mongering, politics, national alliances, or anything other than our innate desire to survive mandated US entry into the war.  The US people united, regrouped, prepared and went to war.  We went to war to win peace, freedom and to survive.

In 1990 the self-satisfied, self-centered generation lived in aggressive arrogance. It was not as well educated as it thought, but it was certain it knew everything and invented most everything.

Suddenly on September 11, 2001, a self proclaimed enemy of civilization who lives to prevent progress and destroy freedom and individual rights turned US institutions of government and business into flames replicating the murders at Pearl Harbor in 1941.

Five years after our modern-day Pearl Harbor we see a still self-centered, over-emotionalized populace whining about tragedy led by a frenetic media pack that has no historical perspective.  We witness the ubiquitous exposure of crooks in our midst.  Crooks are uncovered every day under the labels of corporate governance, incompetence, over-paid beyond even irrational standards and arrogance.  Our culture has failed to such an extreme over recent decades that corporate governance is scoffed at by the corporate governors!  We hear loud whines proclaiming how wrong our leaders were in managing the war's retaliation and our defense.  These loud whiners have no regard for anything other than bringing down the current leadership at any cost to the nation.  They are demonstrating their divisive skills and their self-centered need to take over.  But does any one of these pretenders display positive leadership?

Leadership could save the nation as it did in 1865.  Divisive politicians poking their fingers in our eyes will permit -- and even make inevitable -- failure of the nation that weathered storms so well for over two centuries.

When will any candidates for the office of President Of The United States of America know or even attempt to act presidential?  How can these pretenders to power imagine themselves up to tasks of leadership, analysis, and decision making when to date they can only attack their fellow politicians and the current administration?  Today the US is involuntarily engaged in a struggle for global survival and position as well as an internal struggle for wisdom to prevail.  We ask the pretenders to power, "How will you lead the nation while holding together the coalition of civilized nations?"

And do not forget.  You must also stave off fanatical terrorists who know no boundaries in their War Against Civilization and civilians and have as their special target, the United States of America.

Jobs, Freedom, Economic Growth

President Bush announced the need for an $87 billion funding to continue to wage the War Against Terrorism on its key fronts, Iraq and Afghanistan. The money will purchase reduced global terrorism by fighting terrorism at its origins.  Civilization's homeland will be safer when these fronts are cleared of terrorists.

The U.S. government will use the money to purchase equipment and services primarily from U.S companies who employ primarily U.S. citizens. The $87 billion will make the world safer, strengthen the U.S. economy and provide jobs for U.S. workers. The U.S. is fighting again to secure freedom in today's global war and providing jobs at the same time.

What A Difference A Few Thousand Years Do Not Make

300 years ago the land known today as the United States was hostile, sparsely populated by primitive humans and wildlife, and was treacherous for the adventurers and dreamers who recognized opportunity.  People who emigrated to the United States over the last 300 years recognized fantastic opportunities, accepted challenges, established a productive governmental structure and built the greatest nation in the history of mankind.  Today the US has the highest standards of living and its populace continues working to further itself.  The people of the United States achieved greatness through hard work and application of intellect with little assistance from other nations.

3,000 years ago the land today known as Iraq was a barren desert, sparsely populated with nomadic tribes, few resources or wildlife, and was treacherous for the tribes who roamed the sands.  People who wandered across those sands for the last 3,000 years changed little, but today through no fault of their own, they have the great fortune to have a great fortune under their sandy feet.  Iraq possesses one of the worlds largest oil reserves.  All the Iraqi people need do is stop internal warring and harvest their oil.  They would magically become citizens of one of the world's wealthiest nations.  It could be so easy.  Most civilized nations are willing to provide major assistance.

When will the Iraqi people take responsibility for their lives?  When will the Iraqi people comprehend that for only the next few decades will oil be a necessary energy source for which the civilized world will pay exorbitant prices?  When will the people of Iraq make hay while their sun still shines?

Answer the World Peace Survey

Imagine What Might Be Today If The US-led Coalition Left Iraq Immediately Following Liberation

Imagine if the US-led coalition left Iraq immediately following liberation.  Imagine, if before leaving, the US-led coalition recovered national treasures plundered by Hussein and his sons, started water and oil flowing, hired, organized and trained local police in municipalities across the nation, and organized, trained and armed a national military force having an officer corp to guard national interests?

If the US-led coalition had pulled out immediately following liberation, it could be that by autumn of 2003, Iraq would still be plagued by large-scale civil and religious wars from Najaf, to Baghdad to Kirkuk.  No streets would be safe.  Daily terrorist attacks would inflict death and maim Iraqis in mosques, on the streets, and in their homes.  Terrorists would know no boundaries as they attack women, children, old and young men, clerics, workers, anyone anywhere.   There would be widespread whining, complaining, shouting, screaming and broad hatred across Iraq and across the world. There would be criticism that the US-led coalition left too soon after its miraculous liberation of Iraq.  President Bush would reiterate that it was never the intention of the United States to colonize Iraq or take its oil.  The US's only objective was to continue the retaliation on the next front in the global War Against Terrorism:  Iraq.

If the US-led coalition had left Iraq as imagined above, terrorists would know that civilization was not serious about winning the War Against Terrorism.  But because the US-led coalition remained in Iraq to help Iraqis build a civilized Iraq, terrorists now understand the United States is serious about destroying terrorism.  It is the naive pacifists in the US and elsewhere who fail to understand in a historical context or in today's context the deadly serious plans terrorists have for civilization's destruction.

Terrorism holds an upper hand in the global war it started in the 1970's and set afire on September 11, 2001.  People everywhere live in confusion not understanding what to think about the vagaries and personal dangers of the War Against Terrorism.  People realize that the terrorists can strike almost at will anytime with deadly force.

The foundation of terrorism is chaos.  Chaos is kept alive when terrorists use apparently random acts to kill, maim, and destroy the calm, mundane lives of innocents.  The United States must act asymmetrically with various allies to eliminate terrorist enclaves anywhere they plot and implement their tactics of death and destruction.

You're smart.  What would you do today?

Monday morning quarterbacks and pundits of all varieties from academia and the media whine and proclaim using their infinite wisdom.  They tell us the administration failed to plan for the quick win in Iraq.  Today, knowing all that we know about remaining Hussein followers, infiltrators from other terrorist enclaves around the region, and fanatic Iraqis who want to replace Hussein, what can be done to end this phase of the war and hand control to Iraqis?  What is their plan today?  That should be easy for them to identify.

How do civilized armies composed of civilized men educated, trained and guided by civilized rules of engagement, and led by genuine military leaders handle thugs and out of control terrorists operating randomly and in chaos mode?  Many thugs and terrorists are willing to commit suicide or can enlist young indoctrinated men to die for them under the guise of a cause.

The coalition of the civilized is now fighting a form of the dreaded door-to-door street fighting.  It is different than that of World War II and that envisioned before fighting started on the Iraqi front.  Today's hut-to-hut and cave-to-cave fighting is deadly because it is filled with surprises.  When our soldiers operate offensively they locate enemy, fight and win.  The problem is that much of the time our soldiers are not operating in offensive or defensive modes.  Instead they are fulfilling passive roles guarding civilians, government workers, oil and water pipelines, and building new infrastructure.  These soldiers are occupied in work for the Iraqi people and are vulnerable to the despicable rules of engagement of terrorists and suicidal fanatics.

Has there been a quick win in Iraq?  No. The War Against Terrorism's Iraqi front was not won on April 9 with the fall of Baghdad; it evolved into the next phase:  Rooting out individual suicidal fanatics and the remaining greedy thugs auditioning for Hussein's job.

There was more than adequate planning by US military, US administration and coalition teams.  Our soldiers are well equipped, guarded by surveillance of all types including satellites and other electronic devices, Predator unmanned flying machines, competent leadership and their fellow soldiers.

Soldiers will die.  Civilians will die.  This is the War Against Terrorism.  It has not yet been won.

Judgment Is Critical For Success & Survival

Today we hold fast our opinion of March 12, 2002  ---  Domestic Security Chief Tom Ridge announced an alert system intended to convey more specific meanings and guidance to people regarding terrorism alerts.  The system uses five colors:  the lowest status warning is green, followed by blue, yellow, orange with red indicating that perceived dangers are intense.

Ridge said the multistage alert system will provide "a common vocabulary" of danger to help communities respond to threats.

We ask, "Why colors?"  There is no logical or instinctive progression directly relating a given danger level to a given color.   Yes, red is intuitively 'most severe' but why would Ridge expect people to memorize and then, while under stress, to instinctively calculate, comprehend and act according to the specific color code?

This color system is a formula for confusion!

Tom, we ask you to understand what is going on in the lives of hundreds of millions of Americans of all ages and educational levels.  Do not add to their stress by requiring them to comprehend a subjective color scheme in order to understand how dangerous each day is.  You will implicitly force people away from paying any attention to your warnings.  People tend to shy away from confusion.   Accordingly, they will disregard your warnings.

We say, "Use numbers."  Simple...  Most everyone can count.  Use five (5) levels.  Level 5 is the least severe.  Level 1 indicates perceived dangers are intense.

And omit 'yellow.'  We are not ever yellow!

Saddam Aide Says Weapons Were A Bluff

BAGHDAD, Iraq, August 2, 2003 - Associated Press -- "A close aide to Saddam Hussein says the Iraqi dictator did in fact get rid of his weapons of mass destruction but kept the world guessing about it in an effort to divide the international community and stave off a U.S. invasion.

The strategy was designed to make the Iraqi dictator look strong in the eyes of the Arab world.  At the same time, Saddam retained the technical know-how to restart the programs at any time.  Saddam's alleged weapons bluff was detailed by an Iraqi official who assisted Saddam for many years.  The official refused to be identified, citing fear of assassination by Saddam's paramilitaries.

Saddam told him, "These foreigners, they only respect strength, they must be made to believe we are strong," the aide said.  Publicly, Saddam denied having unconventional weapons.  But he threw up obstacles to UN weapons inspectors looking for them."

Editorial:  This rationalizes Hussein's actions and is therefore plausible.  If true, Hussein had to be removed from power.  As reported, Hussein salvaged the plans and supportive resources to use his weapons of mass destruction.  He could act on his own whim, or when provoked by one of Iraq's neighbors, or any time he might decide to subcontract to any of the several terrorist groups to use his weaponry.  Hussein and his two eldest sons have been verified to be as ruthless, power-hungry, sadistic and dangerous as were Stalin and Hitler.  Hussein & sons with WMD plans plus oil money is as deadly as any megalomaniacs with live WMD.

Hussein escaped punishment in 1991 and went on to kill, torture and steal from his people and to threaten his neighbors and all civilization.  For his past actions, for the deadly game of Russian roulette he was playing with the world and his unruly neighbors using WMD, and for the future dangers he imposed upon civilization, Hussein needed to be stopped.

Perspective:  What It Takes To Defend Ourselves

Dateline Recently, Hometown, USA:  A service held at a military installation to honor dead and wounded soldiers who fought on the Iraqi Front

The commander speaking to the media and his troops said that there are not words to describe the difficulties endured...  Three weeks of fighting, eight fire-fights, several wounded and killed.

WAKE UP, Americans!  These soldiers' risks were greatly diminished by incredible US-developed technologies.  Most soldiers were out of range of any form of enemy fire.  Coalition forces advanced in the wake of its own offensive fire upon a primitive enemy.  For words to describe the horrors of war ask veterans of Viet Nam, W.W.II, W.W.I, the US Civil War, the US Revolutionary War, and soldiers who fought for good and bad causes over the last 5,000 years.  War is a part of our nature and derives from the need to defend against aggression.

The American people --- if that entity still exists --- need to STOP describing everything as a tragedy and realize that life is often difficult.  How soft and weak will our culture become before we collapse in upon ourselves?  The War Against Terrorism is just today's confrontation between evil and good.  There is an insidious cultural defect much more destructive than terrorist enemies.  The in-fighting back home in the good ol' US of A that will destroy our culture more surely than terrorism could include:  the Gender War, the Race War, the Class War (lower against middle), the Road War wherein so many antagonistically treat fellow drivers as enemies, the Unbounded Greed and IDENS (the I Deserve Everything Now Syndrome), the Don't You Dare Smoke or Eat Fatty Foods, the lack of concern for something that used to be called work ethic, the Lawsuit Mentality wherein the method of choice for every petty bickering fool is to sue every other petty bickering fool.  The Reasonable Man is dead, but where are his children?

Wake up.  Learn from history.  There will always be Hitlers, Stalins, Husseins whom people like us will need to defend against.  We will go to war and it will be hell.  So far the more dangerous hell is the set of domestic wars raging daily in the media and on our streets amongst drivers.

Short On Analysis, Arrogant Ignorance Rules....  The Iraqi Front Can Be Lost.

Saddam's two sons, Uday and Qusay, were killed resisting capture.  During the three hour fire-fight their appearances were changed...  that is the reason they died!  Their bodies were damaged, biological functions failed and death followed.  Simple enough?  All that remained of the brothers' power and the fear they radiated might have been cleared away easily if US authorities had been wise, less arrogant, and understood the concept of death in Middle Eastern culture.

There is an important aspect to all national cultures and religions:  the psychology of death and handling of the dead.  The Iraqi people understand, as does everyone living in the Middle East, and, thanks to television and Hollywood's explicit graphics, that death in war often includes severe mutilation.

US authorities used mortician's wax to partially rebuild the brothers' faces attempting to make them look as they did when alive.  This is offensive to Middle eastern culture, psychology and religious teachings.  The people of Iraq were born and raised under the 34 year-long Hussein reign of terror which taught them along with other Middle Eastern cultural forces that western civilization is not to be trusted.  The facial reconstruction used by US authorities now inhibits the Iraqi people from believing the despotic brothers are truly dead and can never return to torture and kill.

The US authorities running Iraq were selected apparently for their ability to build Iraq into a productive nation.  These authorities must wake up, learn, and understand cultural and psychological requirements of the Iraqi people.  If they continue to ignore cultural and religious concepts endemic to the Middle East and Iraq, the Iraqi front in the War Against Terrorism will be lost.

Peace Panacea For Iraq:  Jobs, Daily Work, Responsibility & Paychecks

Iraq will not be calm and reach its potential until Iraqi men understand that they can go to work, produce a product and get paid a fair wage.  They will then gain the respect of their families and friends.  If enough Iraqi men could live these organized, secure lives their friends and neighbors would want the same respect, steady work and wages and the snowball would roll uphill.  Iraqi workers could go to stores, buy products that they helped manufacture and show them to friends and family.  The economic cycle would start to go full circle.  This life-style would spread across Iraq.

US authorities should build factories, import raw materials and subassemblies, set up equipment and hire Iraqis to assemble finished consumer products.  Other Iraqis could then be hired to operate stores selling Iraqi-made products.

The Iraqi people could be productive and would then spend less time loitering, rioting and following demagogues.  They need to be given a jump start.  US authorities have the wherewithal to do this today.  The window of opportunity is quickly closing.

Divided We Fail

Politicians, media screamers and cultural thieves need to comprehend a fact:  Taking control of the society they are shaping will be meaningless and actually worthless. Today's politicians, television pundits, screaming, jabbering media time-fillers and uneducated cultural misfits who are selfishly working to steal all they can from a benevolent, generous society beyond anything ever witnessed are everywhere today. Each acts as if the nation they are working to divide and conquer will have value for them or anyone in the coming years.

The contentious and divisive screaming so prevalent and out in the open everywhere today is domestic terrorism perpetrated by Americans on Americans.

Congressional inquisitions of honest, sincere public servants doing their simple best is destructive. There are only two sides in the War Against Terrorism:  Civilization versus Terrorism. Street-fighting, congressional grandstanding politicians, so-called presidential candidates who are incapable of acting presidential, and those who fight, push and jockey through red lights while driving are terrorists.

Wake up, Americans. Get civilized. Stop trying to destroy other Americans.

Imagine if the Bush administration, CIA & FBI teams had prevented the attacks on September 11....

The media would be talking about 20 Middle Eastern men, "Mostly Saudi citizens, potential terrorists who had planned multiple attacks against civilian and government buildings on the U.S. mainland."  If the attacks had been thwarted, what would be happening today?
Lawyers & rights groups would be screaming about the Saudi 20, their rights and illegal detentions.
The administration, CIA & FBI would be hailed as heroes.
The administration, CIA & FBI would be attacked as right-wing nuts abusing everyone's rights.
Most people would have forgotten about it by now.
President Clinton & his administration would be blamed for having allowed intelligence failures & not dampening terrorism during his 8 years.

Tribal Warfare Is Not A Mission In The Global War Against Terrorism

Now Liberia is the unworthy, over-reported tragedy.  Forget tragedy; adjust perspective.  When there are so many tragedies is each one really a tragedy?   No.  These are acts of natural selection amongst nature's creatures.  Sad and bad.

The United States is involved in protecting civilization from the uncivilized.  Its resources should be directed toward the elimination of terrorism and the terrorist psychology that is purported to be the panacea planted in too many young men and women around the world.

Tribal warfare, even for the politically correct, is not a domain for US peacekeeping.  Peace can not be attained, let alone kept, until the tribes involved develop hierarchical leadership structures and productive citizens.  Until tribal leaders can control and direct their followers in productive directions with positive long-term goals, we should expect little more than swinging machetes and inter-tribal warfare.  Tragic, but not for the US to meddle in.

And where is the United Nations?

Keeping Troops Cool

A mom in Delaware is collecting donations to buy and ship 200 air conditioners to US soldiers stationed in Iraq.  Reports from a few enlisted soldiers stationed in Iraq indicate their morale is low.  Others state that they want to ask the Secretary of Defense and President for their resignations.  Still others whine that they expected to go home soon after the fall of Baghdad.  Others complain that they have been scheduled to go home but now received orders extending their tours of duty.  Open criticism by soldiers in uniform of superior officers is a breach of military rules.  But more important is the attitude of some soldiers that demonstrates a lack of respect for authority.

The soldiers' actions rank high on the list of tragedies that have struck the United States since 9/11.  The tragedy is that the American guts and American spirit that worked to build the United States of America into the grandest realization of mankind's dreams for prosperity, freedom, and opportunity has apparently died.  Our culture and each of us including these soldiers are the product of cultural changes that started during the 1960's and have out-stretched all common sense and reasonable thinking.  The Founding Fathers assumed guts and integrity would be present in all citizens fortunate enough to live under the US Constitution and Bill of Rights.

The 1960's mark the start of the anything-you-want-to-do-is-acceptable cultural changes.  It has been taught since that period that everyone is equal so don't select anyone over anyone else regardless of qualifications for the job, everyone has the right to do anything anytime regardless of any damage inflicted upon anyone or anything else, including our culture, morals or ethics.  Today's soldiers are the product of 40 years of these lowered standards and the it's-not-my-responsibility culture.

How our culture handles the 9/11 aftermath, including the ability of our soldiers to accept the responsibilities they voluntarily assumed when they joined the military is our toughest endurance test in over half a century.  Soldiers worthy of representing the United States will have pride in their liberation of Iraq, not squeal when deserts get hot, and not turn and want to run when Hussein's thugs continue to attempt to kill them.  It is not easy, it is dangerous, it is difficult --- it is the job they volunteered for.

Worthy soldiers representing the United States would understand that the missions they volunteered for carry the responsibility to have the guts to stay the course no matter how hellish situations become.  They wear the uniform of soldiers who came before them and civilians who did meet commitments and responsibilities; millions who held ground and fought to the death or until they achieved victory... without air conditioning.

Even with air conditioning, today's whining and squealing soldiers are not cool.

Chemical, Biological, Radiological & Nuclear Weaponry --- The Question That Is Not In Question

It is clear to those who understand the nature of espionage and intelligence gathering that, if the US released specific WMD knowledge, it would limit future successes and endanger operatives.

Win The War, Lose The Victory

The US coalition deposed Hussein's despotic regime in Iraq and won enough major battles to call the Iraqi front a military victory.  But remnants of the regime continue to kill coalition soldiers and terrorize the Iraqi people.

Most people want to be free and live productive lives.  If we assume that applies to the Iraqi people, then the generations born and raised under Hussein feel left out of the victory and fear for their futures.  They are waiting to realize some value in the freedom won when the regime fell.  They need productive distraction from the politics, death, and destruction of the regime.  That purpose is what the coalition's military victory failed to give the Iraqi people.  Men need to have purpose in their lives.  Iraqi men need jobs and a daily routine that provides the ability to earn money while knowing that their families are safe.

The US is on the verge of several years of occupation because it is failing to provide Iraqi men with productive jobs so that they can build civilized lives.  The US attacked the Iraqi front to decrease the threats of global terrorism.   If the US continues to fail to meet its responsibility to generate productive work for Iraqi men, it will lose the victory.  Terrorism will reorganize and regain control of Iraq.  Terrorism will build a stronger regime of death in what the Iraqi people, the French, the Germans and most of the world will correctly see as a victory lost.

The US must identify the primary objective as being jobs for Iraqis.  Business interests could think long-term and bring in equipment ranging from bulldozers to computers to brooms, identify work tasks and chores, hire Iraqis and pay them to work steady jobs.  Iraqi workers will gain personal stakes when they are living productively in peace.  They will learn that it is better to work productively than to terrorize their neighbors and the civilized world.  This must be done today for time is running out and soon the victory will be lost.

Who Needs To Thank The United States Of America?

...And All Those Who Lived, Worked & Died To Protect and Build Her

Were you born in the United States?  Are you a naturalized citizen of the United States?  Do you live in one the many nations that has been rescued over the centuries from a despot or dictator?  Do you live in one of the many nations that have been revitalized by the capitalism of the United States?   Are you a worker in a nation whose businesses thrive because they manufacture and employ thousands of workers to provide finished and unfinished goods to the United States?  Have you returned to your native land to prosper after receiving your education in the United States?

The United States of America is the birthplace and home of dynamic productivity, freedom and good living.  Civilizations from the classic Greek to 18th and 19th century British, German and French philosophers theorized, but it took the United States to implement and live the ideals.

We should all say, "Thank You," to the United States of America."

How Not To Handle The Evolving Problem

The highest ranking US administrator in Iraq, Paul Bremer, is calling for more US troops to confront the growing notion that the US is in Iraq to colonize.  Rogue Iraqis and left over Hussein loyalists have increased anti-US sneak attacks and demonstrated through street anger.

Instead of calling for troops, Bremer should be building the Iraqi government by selecting strong-willed Iraqis appropriate for leadership roles in a culture used to having strong leadership.  He should instruct and guide those future Iraqi leaders on leadership.  Then he should direct those top Iraqi leaders to take control of their nation by methodically implementing public works plans, promoting business activity, and ensuring safety through the use of US-trained Iraqi police forces.

More US administrators and bureaucrats will only impede the Iraqi people's progress. It is time to allow Iraqis to build a successful nations or fail.  The world will deal with the consequences.  Bremer has been handed an opportunity of historic consequences; will he be up to the job?

EU Constitution... Well, Not Quite

A draft of the European Union's constitution is ready to be argued at the next levels. It took decades of dreaming, years of planning and 16 months of negotiations and arguing and yet their document fails to identify specifics regarding such important points as how much national power governments would cede to Brussels. We can only imagine how many other operational, cultural, economic, and social points elude resolution.

The United States, using its 225-year old constitution, built itself into the leading economic power and has been the dream home for civilized people around the world to emigrate to for centuries. How paradoxical that even with the US model and in today's world, the EU can't unify and pull together, yet they are so quick to criticize and work to impede progress when the US attempts to lead in areas such as the war against terrorism and global trade.

Hans Blix Will Lead Where?

Yes, Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh announced that Blix, the former Chief U.N. inspector, has been selected to lead a commission on weapons of mass destruction. Lindh continued, "It is very gratifying that Blix has accepted the presidency.  He has unique experiences and knowledge....''  "We must do everything to counter the threats of weapons of mass destruction."

The proposed commission will be financed by Sweden, likely based in Stockholm, and its purpose will be to promote cooperation to stop proliferation and start eliminating weapons of mass destruction.

That is a very sweet project for those who dismiss 5,000 years of human history scarred by ongoing contentious interactions and warring. The only way to stop terrorists is to use massive force preemptively. It is not realistic to expect Blix, the man who failed on the global stage, to suppress his over-emotionalized resentful, embarrassed and bickering personality in order to work on this dream scheme. It is a sweet, but unrealistic notion.

Today's terrorists have been bred and taught that their heritage is hatred.  They are trained and exist to kill.  The erudite Middle Eastern culture that preserved and enhanced Greek wisdom and nurtured mathematics, science and art in the Middle Ages while Europe lay darkened, apparently is dead.  Instead terrorists choose to apply all their skills to destroying progressive cultures.  Terrorism must be stopped with force.

When?

Before the United States were united or states, million of penniless, uneducated people who did not speak a common language or share a common background had a dream.  They found ways to cooperate and worked to build a lawful, productive, safe nation.  They built a democracy and educated their youth thereby building a culture that would have the fundamental strength to promote progress.

The freedom and education provided by the new nation supported its people's innate desires and abilities to further develop and make progress.  Today the Unites States leads the world in creativity, inventive industry, social, cultural and economic potential.

The United States and other civilized nations had to invent, develop and implement technologies and train labor to build their nation's infrastructures.  Today all necessary technologies, materials and labor is available.  The oil-rich nations could simply hire companies having expertise to build cities and agricultural infrastructures.

When will the people with massive oil reserves sell their oil and learn to use their immense profits to build their own lawful, productive, safe nations?

Build A What?  Become What?
Democracy & Prosperity Require Work

Look out your window, walk down your street, visit your friends' neighborhoods.  If you are reading this, it is likely that you will observe organized behavior, people going about their work, children being educated, and all those civilized activities that lead a society to evolve and make progress.  Most of what you will see, despite rude drivers, inept sales people and incompetence in your work place, is a net positive.

Consider the news and travel pictures of terrorist's homelands.  These regions are filled with people who hate democracy and want to destroy the technological, cultural, political and social progress of others.  These regions are filled with people whose accomplishments are few, who appear to do little other than sit on the ground, stand around, and, who teach little in their schools other than religion-based, unthinking irrational hatred.  These people have one more thing in common:  The good fortune to have oil bubble up between their toes as they stand in their ancestral tents plotting the next war against their neighbors, who also live in ancestral tents.  If not for oil forcing its way into their lives and the assistance of civilized nations to extract and process their oil, they would have no potency or relevance for much beyond the next tribe of tent dwellers --- and certainly no relevance for the civilized world.

Today even with massive amounts of oil revenue having poured in for decades, these nations have been unable to make substantive progress.  At best they develop a small, omnipotent, elitist ruling class that becomes a purchaser of western civilization's consumer products and services.  This ruling elite minority builds shopping malls, buys expensive cars, and sends its youth to study in western schools.  However, the majority of people in each of these nations sit subserviently and passively waiting to die while being fed venomous, envious anger directed at people of the civilized world.

After centuries of being dictated to and taught little, are these tent dwellers capable of comprehending what democracy is?  Do they understand that a democracy is the most difficult form of government to build and hold on to?   Do they understand the concept of accepting limited assistance and then working to develop their own societies and economies?  If they had understood these concepts, why haven't they developed into more than poverty-stricken terrorist enclaves with no infrastructures and elite ruling minorities?  ...And why do all these nations look the same?

Thank you.

All free people across the globe, all people who truly care about other people less fortunate, all people who understand the need to contain evil and spread good, we all know that we cannot accomplish the impossible.  But we must try.  Therefore, we say, "Thank you, United States of America for liberating the Iraqi people and winning another front in the War Against Terrorism."

Commander Of The Iraq War, General Franks, Retires

How far does patriotism go?  What does a general owe his country after it provided the base for all that he has become?  In return does he owe his country the benefit of his experience?  Why is a 57 year old general so lured by book contracts and speaking engagements?  Or, more universally important, why does today's culture provide such lure and how does a man who rode the military machine get captured by the fluff and money?  ...Or should he feel some obligation to remain in his county's service after a successful fight on one front to offer his experience supporting the real and ongoing war, the War Against Terrorism --- even after the Battle of Iraq?

The Age of Asymmetric Policy Arrived March 17, 2003

The Foundation Of Asymmetric Policy Is Self-Defense.
Yesterday's friend may not be today's ally.  We must judge our friends based upon past performances, today's actions and tomorrow's expectations.

Chemical & Biological & Nuclear Weaponry -- The WMD Question

It is clear to those who understand the nature of espionage and intelligence gathering that if the US released specific WMD knowledge it would limit future successes and endanger operatives.

Components:  The deadly nerve agent sarin and the Nazi Germany-developed tabun used by Hussein against his own people, nerve agent antidotes, and Arab language manuals describing chemical warfare were uncovered in northern Iraq.
Botulinum and ricin toxin were found at the Ansar al Islam camp in northern Iraq.
US forces testing the Euphrates River near Nasiriyah found "large concentrations" of cyanide and mustard agents.
Hundreds of chemical-capable war heads were found at a site south of Baghdad.
More munitions recently uncovered in bunker storage sites are being tested.

Some structures in complex south of Baghdad recently uncovered had buildings too radioactive for human inhabitation.
A bomb making factory complex was uncovered and is being examined in southern Baghdad.
Several more mobile chem-bio labs have been located and are being disassembled and analyzed.

Clear Facts & One Conclusion: Hussein's regime was developing nuclear weapons in the early 1980's.  Hussein used chemical weapons in the Iran-Iraq war.  Hussein's regime used chemical weapons to kill tens of thousands of Iraqis in 1991.  The regime developed anthrax for weaponry application during the 1990's.  The regime used diabolically, brutally cruel methods to torture thousands of Iraqis, adversaries and war prisoners for over three decades.  Following liberation of Iraq on April 9, canisters, drums, unique research laboratories, mobile trailers housing scientific equipment, and military delivery systems have been found across Iraq.   Viewed separately some of these components could be construed as intended for industrial applications.  Examining these elements and putting them in context of Hussein's regime and its propensity for war, brutality and destruction, only one conclusion is logical:  Hussein's regime was actively developing chemical, biological and nuclear weaponry.  This new weaponry could have been intended for terrorists including Hussein's killers as well as outside terrorist groups such as al Qaeda.  In the period before the start of the Liberation of Iraq in March, 2003, when Hussein understood that his regime was about to be terminated, he ordered the destruction and dismantling of his weapons of mass destruction and evidence of the of their existence.

The civilized world will soon have indisputable and cohesive proof of Hussein's WMD capabilities.

Civilization may then realize that in addition to liberating the Iraqi people, the United States also saved the world from exposure to Hussein's WMD.

Guarding Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, capital of appeasement & the "What War?" philosophy.
Economic Distraction, Waste & Destruction

Civilization used to expend most of its energy working productively to build a better world.   Today's terrorists use primitive and asymmetric methods to divert a disproportionately large portion of our energy toward defense and preemptive incursions.

Terrorist exported fear and confusion on 9/11 to all of civilization.

Terrorists come from a tradition of living in frustration, failing in attempts for progress, developing rotten attitudes and hate-filled philosophies.  They have accumulated anger and young men with no careers become susceptible to petty demagogues who focus education on reaching an after-life, achieving nothing in this life, and destroying civilization's progress.

Only because civilization needs its oil can the land of thriving terrorism inflict its failed, misguided upon us.

Remove our susceptibility by eliminating our dependency upon their oil, stop sending money to their quasi-governments, bat them back into their caves.   That will win the War Against Terrorism.

Facts & Realities Should Influence Illogical Conclusions
The War Against Terrorism's Multiple Battle Fronts

The liberation of Iraq was not Gulf War II.  The War Against Terrorism is a global war involving every civilized person in all nations.  There are many fronts, each a battle front within the War Against Terrorism.

Editors' Message to All Civilized People

It is wrong that civilized people who are so productive a force and work to advance Western Civilization are now subjected to danger and negative, distractive concerns.  It is a fact that the world changed forever on September 11 and we all have new private thoughts and concerns.

To understand our current situation we should consider Western Civilization’s development over the centuries and focus on today’s global society, culture, science and economics.  In many ways the terrorist-induced traumas and threats are going to force reevaluation of many of our institutions, their inter-relationships and functions.  We believe that intermediate and long-term results will be upgrades to most institutions of Western Civilization.

In the near-term we have valid safety concerns and question the potential for progress of Western Civilization.  It may appear that this enemy, one of the most evil forces to ever inhabit Earth’s surface, could destroy Western Civilization.  We do not believe that this primitive evil force, personified by cave dwellers, will seriously damage Western Civilization.  It will inflict more pain, sadness and alarm, but Western Civilization will prevail.  We are confident that society will look back in a few years to these events and recall extreme pain and tragedy.  But it will be apparent from that vantage point that the net result will have been progress for Western Civilization and improved lives for all who deserve to live in peace and prosperity earned through honest, hard work.

We are vulnerable because we are civilized.  We will prevail because we are decent and right.
