The following points were derived
from the US plan as presented by President Bush in his speeches in
late
November and early December, 2005. It should have been obvious to most people who
have ever worked on a large-scale project during their business
careers. However, since it is not, the obvious is presented in
simple format below. |
|
Perspective: Saddam Hussein
could have easily avoided war if he had complied with international
demands regarding WMDs. |
|
Overall Objective for Iraq:
To remove the brutal and globally menacing dictator Saddam Hussein
and allow a free and safe Iraq to develop. |
|
President Bush: "Our
nation is engaged in a war that is being fought on many fronts --
from the streets of Western cities, to the mountains of Afghanistan,
the islands of Southeast Asia and the Horn of Africa. This war is
going to take many turns, and the enemy must be defeated on every
battlefield. Yet the terrorists have made it clear that Iraq is the
central front in their war against humanity, and so we must
recognize Iraq as the central front in the war on terror. |
|
Strategic point 1:
Government -- Help Iraqis build a free
society which operates under democratic
institutions to protect the interests of
all Iraqis. The US is working with Iraqis
to help them engage all Iraqis and to
marginalize those who never will cooperate. |
|
Strategic point 2:
Security -- The
US-led coalition is training hundreds of thousands of Iraqis to
secure their nation. Coalition and Iraqi security forces are
on the offensive against the enemy. They are
cleaning out areas controlled by terrorists and Saddam
loyalists, leaving Iraqi forces to hold territory taken from the
enemy, and following up with reconstruction to help Iraqis rebuild
their lives. |
|
Strategic point 3:
Economy -- The US is
helping the Iraqis rebuild their infrastructure, reform their
economy, and build prosperity that will give all Iraqis
potential in the
free and peaceful Iraq. The US is involving
the United Nations, other international organizations, our
coalition partners, and supportive regional states. |
|
Obvious and in process now. Why
would some American politicians and everyday Americans undermine
this effort? |
|
The United States was not built in
a day. |
