warnings are issued by the US Department for Homeland Security.
Some warnings state
the attacks want to create catastrophic damage around
an anniversary of the September 11
attacks or as random events on days not yet made
infamous. |
| At the same time it
emerged that the British Department for Transport had set another precedent by issuing
guidelines mandating a tightening of security around the Britain's road tanker fleet. |
| The US warning was
circulated to law enforcement agencies and fuel transport agencies. Although a preface
states that "no other intelligence exists to corroborate this specific threat",
the report is highly specific. "Al-Qaeda leaders plan to employ various types of fuel
trucks as vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIED) in an effort to cause mass
casualties in the US (and London), prior to September 19. Attacks are planned specifically
for New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. It is unclear whether the attacks will occur
simultaneously or be spread over a period of time. The stated goal is the collapse of the
US economy." |
| The document goes on
to suggest that the proposed methods will involve suicide drivers. "Some of the
vehicles used will be hijacked. The type of vehicle may be anything from gasoline tanker
trucks to trucks hauling oxygen and gas cylinders. Water trucks filled with gasoline or
other highly combustible material may also be used. The detonation of the vehicles will be
carried out by driving them into gas stations or ramming explosive-laden vehicles into the
trucks carrying the fuel." The report continues to say terrorist cells thought to be
planning attacks will "execute the plan upon receipt of an order". |
| This is World War
III... like it or not... call it what you choose. It has arrived in the United States,
Britain and other civilized nations. Terrorism must be stopped in its homelands before it
crawls and sprawls across our nation threatening each of us everyday on every bus,
highway, office building and home. |
| We are free to
choose. The wise choice is to understand why civilization must take the War Against
Terrorism to the terrorists while they plan in their caves and hovels. It makes no sense
to wait for them to come to us after they have planned and prepared to kill us. |
| We are not free if we
must shop, ride buses, airplanes and public transportation, go to school, and work with
armed guards patrolling. Nor are we safe hiding behind and under concrete barriers. |
